CA DROS Delay

Anyone else dealing with DROS delays?
1. Once a DROS has been "Delayed" and then transitions to "Undetermined", can a purchaser just turn around and re-DROS the same firearm at the same FFL (yes, I know I'll have to pay additional DROS fees, and I understand Turner's will not release to "Undetermined" status)?
2. Does the "Undetermined" status stick with you after the 30 days until adjudicated or can I simply DROS either the same handgun or another handgun and expect a different result (e.g. DROS "Approved"). In other words is the DROS "undetermined" status a one time event and not tied to future purchases?Last edited by Ruber; 04-28-2022, 5:15 AM.Comment

Ruber,
Thanks for your reply, and that was the answer I was hoping to hear.
Makes one wonder how much the CA. DOJ makes each year on unnecessary extra DROS fees that are likely used to support anti-gun legislation and confiscation efforts.

At this point you just wait, other than that going forward always ask about undetermined before DROS.Comment

Guess I've been lucky, ten guns in the past six months, different dealers all over SoCal, no delays. When we use our FFL03 + COE to take home the same day, can there be delays? Do they even run the DROS check through the computer on those, I don't know?
Four out of my ten have been FFL03 + COE same day C&Rs.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

CADOJ training program.
Maybe a bridge toll that was not paid when you let a friend use your car?
Was paying my registration at AAA and overheard you have to pay the fee/fine before they will register your car.
Who knows what will kick you into DELAY.

Get COVID, mandated stay home and get pay check.
Sure they will be short staffed till this policy ends.
Response within 10days, pending, approved , delayed, undetermined or denied so if yours was not looked at than push the delay button.
Firearms and Ammunition Purchaser Information
Under Penal Code section 28220(f)(4), the Department of Justice (DOJ) has up to 30 days to complete background checks on firearms purchasers. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, DOJ typically completed these checks within Penal Code Section 26815(a)'s 10-day waiting period. COVID-19 protective measures have impacted the ability to increase the personnel resources in the DROS unit to address the recent sustained increase in firearms and ammunition transactions without compromising the health and safety of our employees and the community. As a result, firearms and ammunition dealers and purchasers should know that as DOJ employees continue to perform the statutorily required background checks throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, circumstances may compel that background checks are completed after the expiration of the 10-day waiting period for firearms purchases. DOJ will continue to strive to provide the best service and complete these checks in the shortest time possible.Last edited by foothillman; 05-03-2022, 6:36 AM.Comment

Still believe undetermined = unofficial gun control when most FFLs will no longer releaseComment

Can anyone explain this...
Going now 21 days on "DELAY' today,
but "NO DELAY" for ammo purchase today???
Any Theories Are Welcomed.Last edited by squirrelnuts; 05-07-2022, 9:03 PM.Comment

Same here, no delays, but it's clear the frequency is increasing and not coicincidence, and it will likely catch up to us too if the CRPA continues to let these repeat infringements disguised as "staff shortage" go ignored.Guess I've been lucky, ten guns in the past six months, different dealers all over SoCal, no delays. The DROS process has largely been automatically electronic without need for human intervention for the past 25 years, has not had these BS 'undetermined' delays in these numbers, so there is certainly biased manual manipulation at work here forcibly creating erroneous delays with some form of motivation or intent to antognize gun buyers and dealers.
