Some individual trying to corner a market on ammo and illegally exploit a deliberate pro-gun pricing decision by WM to squeeze gun owners for a little cash? Yeah, I'm not so into that.

    See any difference? I do.
Looks like you've done 2 things here today.

    1. You've proven you cannot read.

    2. You've proven your attitude to be that of a French sympathizer in occupied France.

Figures as much since you're a relative n00b. RAW means "Registered Assault Weapon", so that proves you can't read or don't know what you're talking about.
Additionally, you are "Assuming", and therefore making an A** out of yourself by saying ChinaMart hoarders are "Illegally trying to corner the market". Last time I checked Big5, Dick's, and several local FFL's have ammo; so where is the market being cornered?
If you're late to the game, blame yourself. Many members on this board have assured their stockpiles by buying ammo online, via gunshows, and wherever else. They are not sitting on their butts waiting for someone to spoon feed them and dry their tears.
Looks like you're the one with the "Imagination" since you're stuck on stupid about people hoarding, when you have no idea what they are using the ammo for.

I got lucky and saw 2 cases of WWB 100 round packs of .45acp at my local Wal-Mart sitting on their load that they have out at night to be stocked. But they wouldn't sell me ammo after 10pm

I went back in the morning to buy a few boxes, left plenty for the next guy, I'm sure some douche bought the whole lot later in the day.

I guess it's really up to Walmart about what their sales policies are. True, they're selling out on ammo daily if someone buys it all, and thus making a complete profit and daily inventory turnover, but they're not selling other firearm accessories -- after all, I doubt this same guy who is making the bulk purchases is also buying clays, shooting rests, targets, etc.

I'm not even sure how much profit they make off of ammo, selling at those discounted prices -- odds are, they depend on things like ammo to bring in the customer to make other purchases while they are there. This is why all grocery stores stock bread, even though they pretty much make no profit or even take a loss on it -- the customer comes in for bread, buys some peanut butter, jelly, milk, etc. I'd imagine that things like Targets, Shotgun shell carriers, and cheap bench-rest bags filled with sand have a much higher profit margin than 100 round .45ACP packs that are at the bottom of the market in terms of price. This makes sense, right? So how many of those are they selling if Mr. X keeps coming in day after day and cleaning out their ammo shelf? Is he buying any of the above?

So in my case, my local Walmart, which hasn't had any real ammo for some months now, is losing my dollar to my Big 5. While I'm at Big 5 buying ammo, I'm also stocking up on Breakfree/CLP, buying other gun accessories, clays, etc. When Walmart had ammo, I would go there and buy other things while I was there, but since my Walmart is further away than my Target and Costco, and I have no ammo reason to drag me all the way to Simi, I'll just do my shopping locally at Target, Costco, and Big 5 -- Walmart gets nothing from me for months (except maybe shotgun ammo and clay purchases).

So yeah, Walmart can sell to who they want in any amount they want, but they need to consider what their business model is. If they just wanted to sell discount ammo to another wholesaler, they really didn't need to build a big store and pay overhead -- they could just sell to that guy straight from the warehouse. If they value the other, higher-profit margin products that someone like me might buy as a more general customer, they should probably put some store policies in place while there is a shortage. I'm all for everyone being able to buy in bulk when products are not scarce, but if you are finding extreme scarcity in one or more of your product lines, and lots of your customers are going home pi**ed off, you're probably not running your business very well. This is exactly why stores put limits like one-per-person purchases during the pre-Christmas shopping season and massive sales -- they value their customer more than inventory turnover. They don't pay overhead on a retail location just so some other reseller can take their inventory and lure over the same customer base for added value sales.

                    Is 29.99 for a 100pk Winchester a decent deal?

I'm just asking because I know a store that has some right now.
Obliviously it not that hard to bet WM ammo.

                        I just called around.

I don't understand why you guys are so worried about it. Ammo at WM IS NOT hard to find. I have been to walmart a few times the past week, and everytime I have seen plenty of ammo.. just go early if you want it. And ya, I buy a lot.. I know if I don't, someone else will. And regarding gunbroker, ya people pay a lot, but some of those people don't have access to walmart, and there local gun shops might even charge more than they are paying on gunbroker..
