Because for some of us, this is definitely not the case. My Walmart (and all of the Walmarts near me in Ventura County) hasn't had .22lr or any major handgun ammo since November. Remember that your small microcosm might not apply to the rest of the state, or even the country.

What the hell is wrong with this thread!!! For people that are supposed to be pro-rights I can't believe the crap I'm reading. People actually have a problem with someone going and buying something at a store? Have a problem with people selling something for a profit when there are people who will buy it?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Remember what country this is supposed to be! It's absurd that people are complaining because someone has the foresight to go to a store like walmart every night and buy all the ammo they can until they have "enough". I do, and I will continue to. And if I needed to sell it, I'd sell it for a profit!! I've been buying out the local stores for my personal stock, but if I needed the money, you're damn right I'd be selling it. Only problem I see is that going to one of my local walmarts they have just instituted this "policy" of selling two boxes of a caliber to any person at one time. That's a friggin joke as well, you would think a store would want to make SALES. Oh well, can't argue with walmart, they really don't give a crap about anyone. But the people who complained enough to cause policies like this to be enacted? THEY ARE THE PROBLEM. Grow up already. I'm actually MAD now, because I realize that I wasn't able to buy what I wanted to yesterday because people must have complained enough to enact this kind of buying restriction.

My dad just bought a crapload of ammo today at WalMart. He's been trying to get some cheap ammo for awhile now, so he certainly wasn't going to pass up on a chance to get whatever he can. I can't say I disagree with it. If I had more money, I'd be buying as much ammo as possible.

I guess I'm lucky that none of the WalMarts by me sell ammo at all. At least many of you have the option of braving that cesspool in hopes of finding some ammo.

Honestly, have you been to walmart by 7am to see what they have? I don't see why "your" walmart would stopping getting shipments all of a sudden. People in San Diego say the same thing you are saying, but I seem to have no problem finding it.

Walmarts in my area won't sell more than 1 case of each caliber to each customer, so they generally have a decent amount of pistol ammo. I bought a case of 9MM today, 200/1000. Another guy was in there buying 1 case of everything.

Even if I could buy it all I wouldn't, maybe I'm stupid or something.

No, I haven't bothered, because I've asked the guys that work there and they say they've had nothing for months in Ventura County. I don't need to be there at 7AM for the ammo that won't be there. I actually take the time to talk to and be nice to the people who work in the ammo sections of the Walmarts I frequent, and they tell me what the deal is (the situation being that the Warehouse hasn't had ammo for months). If I can get it straight from the horse, I really don't need to be there at 7AM, do I?

First off, calm down, and quit yelling at me with bold!! Now, why would the ventura county walmarts not get ammo? I am also nice to the people at walmart, I don't just go to get ammo and run outta there. BTW, I have been told more than once that they won't be getting any more ammo, blah blah, "they have received the last shipment" blah blah, but it always seems to find it's way to the store. I don't listen to the employees since they always seem to feed my BS anyways. Maybe your WM doesn't get any ammo.. But I know a lot of them do, but people still don't get there in time and then complain. Ya, it sucks getting up early just to go to walmart, but it's not that big of a deal. I kind of enjoy it, it's always a surprise to see what they have.

Sorry, didn't mean to yell, just wanted to make the point that it's not me being lazy or anything, it's that we really don't have any ammo out here at Walmart, and it's frustrating, especially since this all started happening right after I became a gun owner, and I had just started getting ammo at Walmart to save money. All of a sudden, pfffft! -- no ammo at Walmart. Crazy, and annoying Murphy's Law timing for a guy who just found cheap ammo finally.

I really can't make the 7AM trip -- by that point, I'm already down the road the complete opposite way, to work in West Hollywood (I live in the Valley, gotta beat traffic by going early).

I'm hoping at some point we can actually get some ammo back in our Walmarts again.

Btw, per the original point of this thread, I'm not against anybody buying all the ammo in Walmart, but I am against that store manager letting it happen. Per my earlier post, if the manager values his customers or the extra additional business individual ammo buyers brings in terms of additional purchases, the smarter thing is to ration people for now until we get ammo in normal amounts again.

I see it this way -- my Simi FFL bought all of the buckshot ammo Walmart had because it was at a great price, and then resold it. His prerogative, good for him. But for the Walmart, it was a stupid move.

                              Just think - I'm a customer, I call Walmart --
                              "Hey, you got any buckshot?"
Walmart: "No, we just sold out"
                              Me: "Dang"

                              I call the FFL -

                              "Hey, you got any buckshot?"
                              FFL: "Sure, come on down!"

I head down there, and while I'm there, I buy some targets, Breakfree/CLP, gun cases, all of which I'm sure are sold at a much higher profit margin than the ammo. In this case, Walmart sold some ammo, but made a much lower overall profit. So they paid all that overhead on running a store so that they could make a transaction that could have happened just as easily straight from their warehouse.

So from my POV, anyone should be able to buy anything, but it is the responsibility of the store owner to look out for the needs of all of their customers. This is why retailers limit purchases of certain items on Black Friday (e.g., one PS3 per customer) -- they want the long term relationship and additional item sales.
