Your last statement is beyond dumb and ignorant. No one is defending the guy who got shot. What we're saying is that YOU CAN'T SHOOT SOMEONE WHO IS NO LONGER AN ACTIVE THREAT. The criticism is entirely on the actions of the shooter; the victim here is completely, and totally, irrelevant.

Personally I would have hoped that Mike would have got off his butt and beat this hood rat senseless, but that would have been excessive force and all you internet tough guys would have 2nd guessed him finishing McGlocton off with a 2nd right hand to the throat!

Exactly Win except they would not have been Mike D. They would have been the person blindsiding a defenseless unaware person with a violent shove, push or punch !

Not too long ago, in Marine County, an old doctor and his his wife were followed home by a road raged goon. The dirt bag rams into their garage door after they drive in to take refuge. Goon goes into garage. The doctor shot him. It should have been a case of thanks Doc. But all hell broke loose and they were going to charge the poor old guy.

Just recently in Torrance, an armed and certified scum bag of a criminal walks into a jewelry store to rob the place at gun point. The store owner shot the bastard who fell at the doorway but did not die. There was a long fiasco following cause no one wanted to go close to the still living and armed perp. Should have been thank you mr shop owner. Keep your gun. We will haul the manure pile to the morg. But he has not got his gun back yet.

And then comes the civil suits. A criminal shot or hurt during commission of a crime can collect in a civil suit. Something is not right with this.

For sure. Doing the right thing isn't easy in the damn climate here. I sat on a jury once (hear that JA?) with a guy who also shot a robber in his store. Back when he did it, though, it sounds like the case was pretty open and shut and he got his pistol back pretty quickly. The good old days...

The race doesn't matter as far as the incident goes, but the race is the basis for the media on the left when it comes to these types of incidents.

Look at Zimmerman-Martin. They even made Zimmerman white (he is as white as Obama), and every report was pretty much about race. Even the Wikipedia entry for Martin starts with "[he] was a 17 year old African American."

Original article said "black dude." The title of this thread doesn't even mention race. If you equate "thug" with "black," that makes *you* a racist. On these forums, people use word "thug" to describe any stupid violent behavior. It's used all the time for white people. Just look for threads on burglaries and people getting killed.

Do you think that "black dude" is racist? That it should be just "a dude?" If so, you might want to start with correcting all the mainstream media and all the Democrats who emphasize the race in these types of cases in order to propagate the victimhood stereotype.

The attacker was black and the victim was white. If it was reversed, we'd be cheering a black dude who stopped a white thug. The race shouldn't matter, but tell that to the protesters who show up exclusively along the race-based lines. Not reporting on the race would be a material omission in this case as it is indeed causal to the coverage and reaction of the shooting, even if it's irrelevant for legality of the incident.

It's not likely because I don't confront anyone over anything. Not worth it.
But, if someone commits (or tries to commit) a violent assault on me or my loved one, everything changes. I couldn't care less what a jury thinks. I'll still be in better shape than this thug.

Everything you have posted seems to indicate the violent surprise shove to the ground was really not such a big deal. You are the one who seems to be projecting that after you had committed such an act you would have stopped and walked away.
