Drove back to Cali last Thursday, the 4th, from Vegas on the 15 and didn't see anyone getting checked. I forgot all about the new law taking affect and didn't give it a second thought at the time.

Unless I'm reading the code wrong, it's a misdemeanor not to stop. Sounds like you're rolling the dice. I'll just post a link to the other thread rather than re-type it: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...2&postcount=40

You actually CANNOT walk into any mail service and hand them ammo to ship. Fedex and UPS both require ammo shipments come from a location with an account that receives regular on-site pickup visits (ie: a business).

Ammo can be dropped off at a hub:
or through a UPS Customer Center (counters at UPS operational facilities)

            Why?

Alcohol over 151 proof is not legal to sell in California, anything higher (fuels, cosmetics) must be denatured.
You can drive to AZ and buy 190 proof Everclear legally.

True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.

Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

That is news to me. I just mailed some ammo to my son from the UPS store in Carson City a few days ago. It had the ORM-D label on it. The person behind the counter commented that he wished his dad would send him free ammo. We also discussed the BS CA laws. He escaped to freedom a few years ago. He will be sending ammo to his dad behind the iron curtain also.

When I see him in a month or two as I am picking up another ammo shipment, I will let him know that I am not supposed to ship ammo through his store. We will laugh at more CA FUD.

When the Penal Code states these people are exempt, it is not a loophole. A loophole is to find a way to get around a law, like using a bullet button to make a detachable magazine a fixed magazine (before the law changed on that).

Really, if the law as written states something in its plain meaning, it makes no sense to say that is not the intent. If the intent was something else, then it needed to be written to reflect that intent.

So, if you are still too timid, contact your own attorney. You just might be surprised when you hear the words the law as written do not have to make any sort of logical sense or resemble any sort of common sense. They are written by politicians. That should provide enough of an explanation why there is no rhyme or reason to any written law.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

Protect themselves from what exactly? Maybe you can show us all where it is not legal for a California resident to purchase ammo out of state? Bringing it into California is the issue, but that is on the buyer not the seller.

S if I have a CA CCW and I go to Nevada, when I return I have to return with an empty gun, then stop off at the first gun store and buy enough to charge my magazines? Yeah ok, I'll get right on that.

                      No.

                      state30314.
                      (a) Commencing January 1, 2018, a resident of this state shall not bring or transport into this state any ammunition that he or she purchased or otherwise obtained from outside of this state unless he or she first has that ammunition delivered to a licensed ammunition vendor for delivery to that resident pursuant to the procedures set forth in Section 30312.

Unless there's something else I don't know about, you can bring back as much of your California purchased ammo as you want. It also means that if one chose to import ammo it would be nearly impossible to prove that it wasn't your left over Ca ammo you left home with.

Don't be overly dramatic. The law clearly states:

30314(a) ... a resident of this state shall not bring or transport into this state any ammunition that he or she purchased or otherwise obtained from outside of this state ...

If for some reason you find it necessary to discharge your carry weapon while out of state, bringing in fresh SD rounds from out of state will be the least of your problems. And yes, I will practice with my carry weapon out of state, but I normally don't shoot target practice with my expensive SD ammo. Either way, it's an un-enforceable law.
The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.

Yeah, I don't think it's me that's getting dramatic here. I was alluding to jeremiah12's reference, which may be correct but it's totally impractical to enforce unless you're coming back with a trunk load of ammo.

You can't bring any ammo purchased out of state, but nobody is going to roust anybody for a box or two of ammo. Just no way that's going to happen. How is anyone going to know where I purchased the rounds in my magazine?

and you're thinking would be totally wrong - NV gunshops have nothing to "protect themselves" over concerning CA ammo laws

i was in my LGS yesterday and mentioned it to one of the counter guys - he kind of laughed, the "only in CA kind of laugh", then told me they have no problem selling thousands of rounds of ammo to CA residents, and, NO, they don't ask for ID when selling either

they don't care, it's not their problem to oversee
