I wonder if tossing ammo over the border from the Nevada side is considered importing. You technically did not cross the border with ammo in your hands or inside a vehicle only the ammo crossed the border

I keep asking this, is ammo in Nevada or Arizona so cheap that buying there is worth it?? Seems lots of people are worried about importing ammo and making trips to buy out of state, but why?
The only scenario I can see is you g there and buy ammo but do not shoot it all. But then in order to get nabbed for the equivalent of a jay walking ticket you will need to be stopped for some legal reason, then searched, and then the ammo be determined to have been purchased out of state. All for a simple infraction ticket. No confiscation, no felony, no arrest, a simple infraction.Comment

Sometimes I'm in vegas and there is a gun show the same weekend. I'll usually go check it out in the morning. I never got ammo before. Didn't want to have to lug it around. It was easier to order online.I keep asking this, is ammo in Nevada or Arizona so cheap that buying there is worth it?? Now i might have to get a few cases if i'm there and give it to the wife to bring back.Comment

Maybe you don't realize California laws only applies to acts which occur inside the state.Just have your wife, by the ammo and give it to you in the parking lot.
Then drive back. Kept reciept with her credit card info on it to prove she bought it and gave it to you.
(6) A person who acquired the ammunition from an immediate family member, spouse, or
registered domestic partner.
So the "spouse" exemption only applies when you acquire ammunition from your "spouse" inside California.
Anyone importing ammo into Calif. regardless of who or where they obtained it from in any other state is still in violation of the new law unless they have a specific exemption such as a C&R FFL +COE or a LEO or be a ammo vendor.Poke'm with a stick!

Very gray area based on the way it is written.Maybe you don't realize California laws only applies to acts which occur inside the state.

Any criminal action (including infractions) where there is evidence will require confiscation of said evidence.
The ammo being imported would certainly be confiscated and held as evidence. Without the actual evidence how would the charge be proved in court?
Do you think people who violate the new Marijuana use laws, such as use in public will be able to keep their dope?
No.
Just like people who have for the past many years had their dope taken as evidence when they were cited for the infraction section of possession of MJ.Poke'm with a stick!

My buddies and I were taking an out of state handgun course. We stopped at scheels on the way to the class and bough 25 Glock 17 mags. The clerk was super nice and asked what we were buying the mags for. We told him we were from California and taking a class in Wyoming and wanted more capacity. He just smiled, said CA laws are stupid and told us to have fun in the class with our new 17 rounders. .
Ammo is not much cheaper there right now. But my guess is that CA ammo will become significantly more expensive as dealers need to jump thru hoops to sell it to us going forward.I keep asking this, is ammo in Nevada or Arizona so cheap that buying there is worth it?? Unless your car or truck is plastered with gun decals I highly doubt anyone at the AG station is going to even look at you. Many of the comments make it seem like people have never been out of state??? Google the AG station map.
Hint: Don't put ammo and guns in plain sight or under a box of donuts.sigpicComment

I respectfully disagree with you, though ultimately, the act CA law is referring to is importing into CA. I bolded the two important sections.
30314.
(a) Commencing January 1, 2018, a resident of this state shall not bring or transport into this state any ammunition that he or she purchased or otherwise obtained from outside of this state unless he or she first has that ammunition delivered to a licensed ammunition vendor for delivery to that resident pursuant to the procedures set forth in Section 30312.6) A person who acquired the ammunition from a spouse, registered domestic partner, or immediate family member as defined in Section 16720.
(c) A violation of this section is an infraction for any first time offense, and either an infraction or a misdemeanor for any subsequent offense.
A resident shall not bring or transport ammo into the state that was obtained from outside the state unless it is first delivered to an ammunition vendor. This is followed by 6 exemptions.
The 6th exemption is acquiring the ammo from a spouse, registered domestic partner, or immediate family member. Nowhere is it stated that the exempted people giving the ammo have to be a resident or non-resident of CA. There is no mention of where the transfer has to take place, in state or out of state. According to a couple of attorneys I spoke with, my out of state father can legally send me ammo through UPS as long as it is properly labeled with the ORM-D label. To be safe, dad should include a note that the ammo is being sent from dad to son. Unlike firearms, it does not have to be a gift, I could pay dad for it.
I could meet my Dad in NV, he could give me ammo and I could then drive it back to CA because I am exempt from the transporting of ammo into CA without having it first delivered to a ammunition vendor because 30314(b) states: Subdivision (a) does not apply to any of the following:
6) A person who acquired the ammunition from a spouse, registered domestic partner, or immediate family member as defined in Section 16720.
My dad qualifies as an immediate family member.
I personally would not want to use a legal defense of my wife gave me the ammo in Reno and I drove it back to CA and here is the note to show that. It would get messy in a community property state with arguing who actually owns the ammo and the legal costs to fight it are much more than the fine. A loss and the loss being upheld on appeal would set a bad precedent. I am sure it will happen sooner than later though.Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.
A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.
Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

You may also want to consider switching from spitzers to soft-points.OK, Thanks. I'm needing to bring back another whole case of 30-06 ball, and wondered how I might get the last few rounds up there. If I grind up some ibuprofen and mix it with butter, then coat the whole case with it, it may ease the pain while waiting in that long line for ammo checks.
