Really? 10 boxes isn't much. Hell, I've brought more than 500 rounds of different calibers/cartridges with me to the range just to let others shoot. When I take my 50s to Angeles, I usually bring 40-50 extra rounds of 50BMG alone to let others shoot for free.

I let someone borrow my gun once and they dropped it, marred the heck out of the buttstock and firearm and refused to pay for it afterward. My dumb*** mistake that has not been made again. Like the saying goes " it's the few that ruin it for all"

And I do not request to shoot Other people's guns. I have my own collection and I live 3hrs away from Vegas where I can rent any gun I could possibly want to shoot.

Since the time I first posted till now, The OP has added to the original post. You did not mention alcohol and taking pictures, So if you want an honest answer next time mention the whole story OP.

I have let many people shoot my guns. Heck at the last north oc calguns shoot, one of the guys that work at the range was checking out my g20, he said he always wanted to buy one but hasn't seen one before. I told him what lane I was in and said come shoot it when you get a break. People from work ask me what guns they should buy quite a bit and I give them a quick rundown of the calibers I own and to buy ammo for what they want to shoot and we can meet at the range and they can try them out and pick for themselves. The only gun I own that I would be hesitant to let someone shoot is my Python, and I'd still let people shoot it. If someone has something I'm interested in, I will talk to them about it, but I will not ask to shoot it. If they offer, it's a different story but I would offer pay for the ammo I shoot or buy a box and give them the leftovers.

I have always offered to let people shoot my firearms once I have done what I needed to do. If I see guys just plinking with handguns, I ask to shoot theirs and in "trade" if they want to shoot mine.

Its the best way to educate on semi-auto rifles. sorta like a crack dealer offering the first drug high for free...

If these guys were punks and just wanted to plink I would pass. But if they actually appeared engaged in the sport or an enthusiast I would not have a problem. I don't base my decision on what they can offer me to shoot. I only bring junk to the range that no one wants, my queens stay in the safe until I wipe them with a diaper while sipping Kirkland cognac....

it depends if they seem like a person I can trust? I always go to the range alone, Ive had drunk people pick up my guns without asking first and drag them across the cement tables causing scuffing on a muzzle brake, and one guy I tried to take back my rifle and he wouldnt let go of it and they were both drinking beers and offered me a beer.

If they seem like OK people I might let them try my gun, but I dont do this very often.

When Im at the range , I prefer to be left alone, it's not a gun show, the guns are not for sale, so I prefer not to let strangers handle my guns.

I even had strangers steal my ammo while my back was turned as I went down range.

There's more to a gun's value than it's original cost. I've let folks shoot all three of these:

The 1940 model Monkey Wards 22 bolt action my father got when he was 15.

The 1934 model Beretta that my father wore on his hip when he invaded the south of France in WWII.

The WWI Spanish Izarra, made for the French military, that my father picked up in France and for which he made some sweetheart grips.

The Luger he couldn't find in Europe but bought for 35 dollars in 1948 and for which he got carried away and made sweetheart grips inspired multi color grips.

All are priceless to me but didn't cost me a cent.
