I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it -
I was at an outdoor range recently and some group of strangers 5 of them in their late 20s. One came over and asked if he can shoot my DD M4A1 w/ eotech combo. I kindly let him knowing their group only had a XD in 9mm and a cheap 22 rifle. After that one after another came over and asked the same thing. My DD was brand new and i was there to get the eotech zero in only. I saw each one put their face on the stock and regretted it immediately. They did offer their guns for me to shoot, but come on. I have my highy modified CZs with me also. I wasn't in the mood to shoot their cheap guns so I declined. Now looking forward, I will politely turn down request to shoot my guns if they don't have anything decent for me to shoot in return. So, what would u do if strangers ask to shoot yours? The fact that you don't know what people in the real gun community do indicates that you don't have a lot of experience. How old are you, OP? And how long have you been shooting?Post edited: No, don't let a group of strangers shoot your precious guns while offering you some beers and cheap plastic gun. It is not worth the ammo you pay and brought. Also new members, don't make any new topic on this forum or any and everything u post will get dissected by the lions and hyenas of the established members. It is pretty rare someones asks to shoot my guns, but when it has happened I have, so far, not declined. I offer up my .22lr Ruger MKII every now and then when I see someone struggling with recoil from too large a caliber weapon. I will offer to let kids shoot if I see them showing interest as well. Once at the range a guy showed up with his young son to shoot their BB gun. I offered to let him shoot some of my firearms and the kid lit up with excitement. He probably went through 50 rounds or so his excitement made it worthwhile. Dad even tried to pay for the ammo, but I wouldnt accept.
Maybe the OP situation wouldnt have warrented a similar response, but most times I like to be an ambassador for the 2nd amendment.Comment

QFT.
There is a range (now under new ownership) in the Central Valley area that allowed alcohol consumption WHILE SHOOTING (they even SERVED!) . I saw that once, and I was outta there right then. The place is under new ownership now, and they have completely changed, which is why I'm not giving the name out."Mr. Rat, I have a writ here that says you are to stop eating Chen Lee's cornmeal forthwith. Now, It's a rat writ, writ for a rat, and this is lawful service of same!"Comment
