Bathroom Break - Leave Guns at Range Bench?

As long as there is a middle aged white man there, it's ok. He'll watch them for you.Comment

Are you saying the 45 and 357 you shoot is somehow much louder than the rest everybody else shoots? 500 mag or the like I could understand...Comment

I leave my stuff all the time. No problems in 20 years of shooting and never lost an ounce of sleep over it.Kevin

At Angeles I have left firearms on both shooting bench and table behind while going to the bathroom. I have asked the RO to watch my things. I have never had anything missing.Comment

They should have an outhouse with eye holes cut so you can keep an eye on your stuff.
Of course then people would start pranking their buddies and doing fake gun grabs and posting vids of Bubba roaring out of the outhouse with his pants down.
I'm surprised more outdoor ranges aren't more deluxe, with bullet absorbing partitions and even lockers at each station. You can get that stuff for free on Craigslist if you keep your eyes open.
I guess it depends on how "public" and how far to bathroom, and if its #1 or #2. Would you leave your keys in your car? One thing for sure- it will sure feel awkward telling the cops you "just left it there and when I came back it was gone" about a fully functioning gun. They would probably quote you that Child Safety law you get with all new guns, for starters.
I'm guessing ranges don't have security cams.Last edited by King of the 109ers; 12-18-2015, 8:37 AM.Comment

My (unsecured) guns will not leave my watch, no matter where it is.
If I'm at the range and absolutely HAVE TO pee or poop while I'm shooting, which has not happened in 25 years, I know myself, I will pack them up and take them with me or secure them somehow.Comment

Wow, you guys are really paranoid. I must have been to a public range at least 500 times and I've never seen somebody pull out a cable lock and start locking up their guns so they could hit the head.
I personally do tend to be near my bench unless it's a cease fire (when nobody can approach the benches) but that's more so nobody grabs a brick of .22 than anything else. I also make friends with the people at the nearby benches during the first break, because a) I'm social that way and b) it helps if there's a problem later with brass hitting somebody, noise, other random problems if you've already chatted with them.Comment

You guys are doing it wrong.
