I have to say I haven't seen any reckless behavior when I go. The RSO are usually on top of things.
That being said, I go on weekdays to avoid everyone...

No kidding. We're lucky any of them get past Johnny Hardcore at the gun store. (You know who I mean).

I've only been back to the sport for a few years now and I try to pay any kindness shown me forward. It doesn't mean I won't pack up and run for the hills if there are some real jerks there, but I will try and help if they're willing.

I've been swept a few times. What gets me is when you are at the firing line and look up at the ceiling and see ALL the holes in the ceiling right above and behind the line. Then you notice the holes in the dividers..... WTF?

Stupid people don't know they are stupid. Because they are stupid. They will follow evil geniuses and do their bidding, because they are stupid.

Really super stupid people look up to, and follow stupid people like they were geniuses, because to them, they are. Unfortunately the reality of it is, that doesn't make stupid people any smarter.

That right there is the root cause to most problems in the world.

I was on a firing line at a semi private range last year when a guy was ****ing around with a derringer and had a negligent discharge into the inner right thigh of a bystander.
I quickly found out that most people do not carry a first aid kit.

I usually feel safe at Chabot. A bit like having a DI standing over your shoulder at all times, but safe. Yolo is pretty good, I feel fairly safe there. Scared to death at Manteca Sportsmen.

Public ranges and public schools share the same demographics

I don't know what it is, but indoor ranges are almost always worse in this regard than outdoor ranges. Maybe it's the lead in the air?

I agree with this. Probably has to do with the fact that there is bullet proof glass separating the range officer from the people with poor etiquette. Also, I see a higher percentage of handguns at indoor ranges. Much easier for the uninitiated to swing a handgun around in the wrong direction vs a rifle.

I shoot at Angeles and Burro and I've seen more safety Nazis than reckless shooters.

Indoor ranges are usually worse because they are more available and easier to get to than outdoor ranges which tend to attract more serious shooters.

My experience was a guy with an AR, with his finger on the trigger, swept the whole line to turn around and look at his truck. He then swept the line again to get his muzzle back down range and proceeded to start firing again.

Because the safety nazis are doing their job...it makes sense
