I can you can say I am somewhat guilty of that in the last month. I can tell you with certainty that I will be in the doghouse when my wife sees the credit card statement. This is most likely the last big purchase for me as I am nearing my goal. I hear some people accumulating 20k rounds of .22lr, but I am nowhere even near that.Comment

Hopefully the guys that need some worst than me will get a chance to stock up a little.Comment

Guilty here as well this last month, But all I've stocked will be shot and not flipped. I'm not targeting 20k rounds either, but the stock I have right now to some it may be overboard. I got caught flat-footed specially on 22lr after Sandy Hook. I pretty much ignored 22 lr because I always thought I could run to Walmart or somewhere locally and pick up a brick or two when my son wanted to go shoot. For me I can manage not shooting 556/223 or 9mm for months but its very disappointing to see an 8 year old boys sad face when you tell him we can't go because there's no ammo for his rifle. Not going to let that happen again.Calguns Contributor

I had to LOL because I am so conditioned to seeing 1 box limits. I put one in the cart and said what the heck, let's try another. Then I realized that I needed .02 more to meet the $50 for free shipping. I was giddy as a school girl when I put the third one in. I felt so guilty that I checked out fast. Now I am wondering if I should have bought a couple of more.
I have shared in other posts that I am accumulating if the ammo bill goes through. Not a flipper and never will be. My local LGS's can't even come close to what Cabelas and Gander Mountain can sells this ammo for.Comment

I never bother with these places that limit you to 1 box. Even in some cases where they have a 10 box limit on 50rd boxes, I still don't bite. Ordering in quantity helps spread the shipping costs around. Heck, I remember when vendors were even offering discounts on cases! I always buy in bulk, that is how I survived this panic without overpaying for ammo... all the Experts on U-Tube been a sayin' 10K backed up fer twenty-twos
The ammo Bill has proposed a Nickle tax per Component .. effective 1 July 2015 .. 1k of M-22's from Cabela's would cost an extra $50 bucks
.. IF .. online sales are still permitted that is.
As for buying in Bulk .. leverage your time if your budget can accommodate it. For other calibers, Freedom Munitions generally has the most common Western calibers in stock, up to 1,000 round lots, and their shipping is prompt and reasonable .. eg. 1k of 45apc jhp .. 50 pounds .. $24 bucks to NorCal. With Midway, ya gotta score 3 bricks to come close to reasonable for 22's cpr. Gotta mention .. for some of us, FM gives a 5% discount toohttp://www.freedommunitions.com/category-s/53969.htm .. Cheers!

When I figured it out I didn't have much more than a partial 550 round bulk pack of Federal from ten years ago and a few random boxes of subsonic, Aguilla SS, etc... maybe 1000 rounds of .22 LR.
I started buying online and was grateful for $3-$4 a box Thunderbolt at a FIVE box limit - not even a whole brick at a time. The local range had CCI Blazer sometimes and Thunderbolts for $5 per box limit 5.
It is looking better now. Bucket of Bullets@.053 if you buy two, etc... and we can turn our nose up at bricks of Thunderbolt for $22. I am pretty sure Gander's sale last night was limit TEN, which is their daily box limit in general per customer. Some people probably got 14000 rounds of GB's. Hopefully we won't see Lucky Gunner selling these off@$200 a bucket. Most people can't invest $700 into a boatload of .22 LR. On deals like buckets, maybe a limit of ONE would be better - I think it would be more fair. Selling out in ten minutes is crazy - especially at 11:30pm. Then again if it is an individual who feels like he can't go shooting and his guns are worthless without ammo because he has NONE... that's the guy I want to score the 14000 rounds. Some people don't have time to check the forum and four different web pages all day long.
My reserve is for me and my family. I give ammo away a lot to Uncles and cousins. If I do "resell" any it would be to my uncle at a loss because he does the same for me.Last edited by crufflers; 08-09-2013, 1:32 PM.Comment
