I know that Vacaville Sports Authority sells guns. That's where I bought my 795. I think Carmichael (Sacramento) and Gilroy also do. Not exactly Bay Area, so may not be worthwhile.

Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

Gaaah.... two more days until I pick mine up
Wasn't able to get it last weekend so I have been waiting forever!
I've been searching for a good sling for it - leaning towards a pink one ... would any of the ones I see online work? Do I have to buy those swivel things too, right?Comment

the standard GI sling works well for my 795WTB: Yugo 7.62x39, 22lr, Finnish M28/39

Yes, you will need to get sling swivels before you can mount a sling to your rifle. Pretty much any brand will do. I have the Uncle Mike's with the quick detach. You can get it at the gun shop, Walmart, or online.
As for a pink sling. . .
I think the "Claw" sling is a nice one since it's like a GI web sling but with a padded section for your shoulder. But I dunno if it comes in pink.
So gonna go to ASR this weekend?

Finally joined the Rimfire fold today with the purchase of a Big 5 $129 Marlin 795 special. Our store (San Bruno) was actually out of 795's, so I guess I get to pick mine out after the 10 day prison term.
After my daughter's disastrous introduction to firearms last year, I'd thought I "reintroduce" her to shooting with a .22lr in an outdoor rather than indoor range.
I have no plans to turn this into 1,000 yard nail driver and have decided to take a more economic approach to outfitting this rifle.
- Barksa 3-9x32 Scope
- Caldwell / Rock Mount 9-13" Bipod
- Numrich Laminated Wood Stock
Any feedback to my accessory choices would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to zeroing this rifle and spending a lot less than $.50 a round when I hit the range
Can't wait to shoot this bad boy!!!!

Cleaning from the front of the barrel is not recommended without a bore guide. You risk damaging the crown. I just use the boresnake or a Patch Worm from the receiver end on my Marlin 60 (same action) to be safe. Its a fact that more .22s have been worn out by cleaning than shooting. Most folks only clean when the accuracy falls off. Of course every gun can be different, especially .22s. I have a Savage that wants to be cleaned about every 500 rounds and a Zastava Z5 that doesn't seem to care either way.Got a 795 bore cleaning question to throw out there. I usually just bore snake it. Anyone use a rod with a Nylon brush or have any hesitations?
The manual says just use a patch with cleaner, then run one through with oil. Mine seems to need need a good cleaning but I don't want to get overzealous and ruin the great precision the "miro-grooved" barrel has given me so far.
Precision seems to have dropped off some so I am hoping a good cleaning is the remedy.Comment

I run a couple of very wet patches with Hoppe's, then some dry patches then a light coat of oil. Only use a brush when you see something in the bore that won't come clean with the solventCleaning from the front of the barrel is not recommended without a bore guide. You risk damaging the crown.
