I've put about 300rds of CCI mini-mags through my 795. I've had one nasty jam where an unfired round got stuck. The next round in the magazine got mangled when I pulled back the bolt and that round mashed into the unfired round. Then the next round in the magazine didn't feed all the way up. Beyond that no problems and it's a fun little rifle.

Bore sighted my 795 today. My scope was no where near it haha. Tried using a red dot i use for my 22 pistol but I was not a fan out it.

There is an older thread on the subject somewhere in cyberspace...
It used bicycle tire inner tube material as a shim for the front Takedown Screw.

I have success instead, by just barely tightening the screw to "almost" snug.
I tighten until the barrel just makes contact at the far end of the stock, then back it off enough to relieve the contact.
Works for both my clip fed and tube fed Marlins.

I bent my recoil spring when I tried to put it back in while cleaning it. I thought I had to order a $7 replacement part, but thanks for the tips here I managed to get it back in again.

To everyone having (or had) problems with failures to feed and extract: were they resolved?

For those of you who sent your 795s to Marlin: were they fixed when you got them back?

I have two 795s with the same FTF 7 FTE problems plus a "last shot bolt hold open" problem with one of them.

              Thanks

                Welcome to Calguns, milspecnsn!

All of my failures with any of my Marlin or Glenfield semi-auto .22s were resolved over at the Rimfire Central forum for Marlin. I could regurgitate again what I learned there; but check it out for yourself instead. Well worth it.

I've never had to send back a firearm to a manufacturer for a tuning, so I can't answer that part.

I haven't had the problem since but not sure if you want to take the risk or if you even have the same problem I had.
See above. Also, I used to get FTF problems a lot because my recoil spring was bent. I havent had the problem since I corrected the recoil spring a little. I also polished the spring guide rod and cleaned all of the carbon out of the receiver.

Now the only problem with my gun is the very occasional misfires due to light primer strikes probably because I used to dry fire the gun since the LRBH open would not work. Even after changing the firing pin, I'm still having the problem. Any suggestions?

To remove the sling mount, would I need to remove the stock? Or does it just unscrew?

                          Thanks otteray and mds2004,

I had already pored over the rimfirecentral threads (excellent info) but I'm at the point of sending these 2 rifles to Marlin same as the other two or three Calguns members have done. The "issues" they described are exactly what I have. Both rifles had 300 rounds through them (purchased in November) and then last weekend, 2 straight days of Appleseed unreliability for both rifles. I hate sending firearms back but I think it's time for warranty work.

Picked up a cheap Winchester Bipod at Walmart today. Went to go zero in the BSA scope. Plinked a little over 150rounds of CCI Mini Mags and Federal Bulk. Not one failure of any kind. Just good old plinking fun.

So $170 on the rifle, $30 bucks for BSA 3x9 Scope & Rings, and $40 bucks for a Bipod. She's a decent little plinker, I just need to get some mags... 10 rds goes by really quick when you're just plinking away.

The only ****ty part is that I bought an ATI stock to toss on her, but erm that's just not gonna work out at all. Granted the rifle is small, but I feel like Godzilla with the ATI stock. It reduces the LOP ever so slightly like 1/2", and without the option to move my hand down on the pistol grip... it just doesn't work out at all.

Oh well live and learn :/

                                10/22 vs 795

So I decided to do a "try before you buy test."

The 10/22 (wood stock) felt like a .22, shot well. When I first held the 795 (synth. stock), it felt like a bb gun. However it shot like a dream. The accuracy of the gun made me look good.

My shooting ALWAYS seems to get worse in a session the more I shoot of any caliber or any type of gun. The 795 was the exception.

Price was going to be my determining factor (WIN 795), but I just found a 10/22 in either stock for a steal!

I don't want to do any major conversions, just throw on a scope and probably a bi-pod...

I have chosen this thread to talk me into the right decision...
