That doesn't look good, that's not normal at all. I shoot Blazer bulk pack out of mine all day long and not one malfunction so far in apx 2k rounds and and no sign of the damage like yours.
If the damage and malfunctions bug you send it back. If you can live with it maybe try these springs https://www.jnpgunsprings.com/produc...roducts_id=219
I haven't used them but they are on my list of things to get. Lots of people love them at Rimfire Central.Comment

Misery loves company.

There's some comfort in not being the only guy w/ this problem....we'll just have to figure it out. Whenever the springs arrive I'll be sure to pass whatever I learn on.
You're a new owner like myself, so I suspect that there's an issue w/ the mm models.
Over and under,

Hah! Yes that works my son,
When I get into something I research the hell out of it, so I'm just passing on what I find.
Here's 2 threads you might be interested in:
Guy had extraction issues so people offered a lot of tips there's also some good photos of the position of the ejector. His wasnt slamming back like yours though.
When I first got it it wouldn't eject most of the time...but there would b a round in the chamber...I field stripped and cleaned it and it ran reliably for 400-500 rounds of Remington ...but when I switched to Winchester its no longer ejecting reliably again. I understand different ammo and...
This one people are talking about the springs I linked:
i have a glenfield model 60 that has a lot of sentimental value and it is having an issue, help would be appreciated please: so, before i load, and after i load, the action is nice and smooth, but after i pull the trigger [live round and at the gun range] the bolt becomes a bit more stiff and...
They said that the Hammer spring may actually be stiffer so it may result in crisper trigger brakes.
I cut a coil on my original spring and I don't think it did much to lighten my trigger (my primer strikes are still clean and hard so no negative there). I asked if people cut these ones and kinda got chastised for asking lol
Other stuff:
People say that the best way to lighten the trigger is reshaping the sear
Wanted to add a disclaimer. Note: First, any work performed on your rifle is at your own risk, I'm posting this as a guide to what has worked on mine. Your results may vary depending on the condition of other parts (hammer, springs etc.). Any work performed on your rifle will of course void...
I've done a light polish but I'm waiting to do more work when I use my buddies shop and we can properly shape it.
And another way is to get a DIP adjustable trigger, unfortunately they are out of stock every time I have the cash to buy one
Also check out this guys 4 part video on tuning the 60/795
My MM# runs perfectly so there is hope!Comment

From that pic, I can also say that this is not normal at all. I've got way more rounds through mine and it doesn't even look close to that. You might contact Marlin and send them that pic to see what they say. Its possible there are some issues after the change in plant where these are produced.
Good luck, sorry to see you are having issues, I was just dinging the small plates at 50 yards yesterday with mine and had a good time. Hopefully you can get yours sorted out!Comment

OMG, after seeing the picture, i checked mine, and I'm having the same exact issue.
The charging handle is damaging the ejection port at the same spot and in the same way.
But I don't have any problems with the gun though. I get maybe 3 FTEs out of an entire box of federal bulk. Mine is an MM serial number as well.Comment

I may wait a bit on that much cash....although I may have to but one after I try to tap my plastic one.

Thanks Pops, indebted as always.
