EDIT: I put the CCI in my cart and got $18 shipping, so I added the AutoMatch and the shipping only went up $5, so play with the amounts. I really try to buy mostly CCI since its the best value (quality/cost), but I end up buying other crap sometimes for the kids to plink with.

sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

Called 2 Arms in Modesto has a very large inventory. More than I have seen in a very long time, Including CCI Mini mags. Seems to be fare prices also.
I was there at noon picking up a rifle.

Just got 5 bricks of Ely Primed Aguila Super Extra delivered today for 8 cents a round (delivered price). Best deal I've found in years at Ammofast.com, and they don't limit you on your order like most of the rest.

Not to beat a dead horse too much - just did an order (without checking out) on Palmetto for 1,000 boxes of Fed Auto Match. It allowed me to do it with $1,741 shipping for a total of $26,731. That gives a price of $.082 per round. Since this thread is about addressing availability - I would say the ability to buy 325,000 rounds of 22 in one order pretty much shows that the 22 shortage is over.

^^The shortage is not over until CCI is more available and the prices drop and are more stable. Federal AutoMatch is not that great IMHO. Just try to buy quality CCI and you will find availability lacking.

I work up around marysville /Yuba city area.

CCI mini Mags - regularly come into the walmarts there.
Last month I found a sealed case of 3,000 rounds sitting on a shelf. When I said I'm surprised it's still there, The lady said it's been there for two weeks no one buys it. She sold me the entire case in one purchase with no issues.

CCI quiet - these 50round boxes have been showing up regularly as well. $3.27
I pick up 3-6 boxes if I see them . The velocity is low but that's fine for my use.

Remington thunder packs of 500 rounds- stopped a Walmart and saw 6 boxes sitting on the shelf. Two guys in front of me loaded up with ammo including these boxes. I've Never seen these at a Walmart before, Asked the lady if I could buy the 6 boxes left and she said yea. Paid 24.97 per box. No issue, one purchase.

                Sportsman warehouse
I can find .22 there also only problem I have is they stock it at odd hours throughout the day. It's hit N miss.

                Lincoln Gun exchange
The last time I stopped by they had plenty of .22 ammo. Wanted to buy some and the guy said " one box of 50 rounds per customer per day"
That's a little extreme. Walked out with nothing , drove straight over to Walmart on 65 and found cci minimags, the guys sold me three. Nice guy by the way.

                For the Walmart availability side,
I don't think the shortage is over I think there trying a little harder to get stock in.

I have noticed more local availability in my area as well. I live in Contra Costa County and work in Alameda County, neither of which allow ammo sales at Wal-Marts. So ammo availability is somewhat scarce. I have noticed Dicks Sporting Goods Pleasant Hill and Dublin have Remington GB 525 packs for $39.99, yeah they are bit pricey. Big 5 has their 22lr in stock for a day or two rather than selling out within 1 hour of the store opening. Their prices aren't that great either. Just need to check with them on what day they get their deliveries. The local gun stores have Mini-Mags in stock at prices that range from a not great but not so bad $9.99 for a 100 rd slide to a WTF price of $39.99 for a 300 rd pack of choot-ems, so buyer beware the price gougers are still out there. Online prices are steadily rising as well with no sign in them going down anytime soon.

While I would agree that the availability of CCI and normalized prices would be welcomed, this thread is specifically about 22 ammo availability improving.

So on one side - one can buy as much 22 as they want that is decent. Federal AM and Bucket of Bullets are decent. They will shoot in pretty much any 22 weapon, their level of fouling is reasonable, and for plinking/mechanics training they will get the job done. They are NOT the best, but they are available in mass quantities. Three weeks ago I walked into a store in So Cal and bought 35K of Buckets and Auto Match for one of our shooting clubs. They told me to come back in 2 weeks, and I could buy the same amount.

On the other side, for those of us biased to CCI and certain other quality loads (myself included), the availability is a bit more scarce. It can be found, just for a bit more $$$ than what we desire to pay. Pricing will not go back to the good ol' days anytime soon, just the increased cost of regulation compliance and materials alone will prevent that.

So long story short. Can you get all the ammo you want to shoot out of your 22? Absolutely. Can you get all of the CCI (or equivalent) ammo you want? Not yet. Will pricing ever go back to Pre Newtown? Nope.

Well, I buy it whenever I can find it at a decent price online, but I live in the Bay Area and finding any decent .22LR at a reasonable price on the shelves without driving around all over the place spending money on gas is ridiculous.

The point is that availability is still not that great around here. Not just CCI, but any decent .22.

I've collected many thousands of rounds of .22 over time, but buying what I want at a decent price is still a problem.

I don't even look for .22LR anymore. I have enough for my wife to shoot and I'd rather blast cheap commie 7.62x39.

ScottsBad, I feel your pain. Truly. And that is part of the reason for this issue. Before all this nonsense, most people would not stockpile. Before shooting one would stop into Walmart, Big 5, Turners, etc and pick up 1-2 bricks. Now, if we have less than 50 bricks we feel nervous!

Mail order is challenging due to the cost of shipping, and quick selling out of the brands we all want. I help shooting clubs buy ammo at reduced prices, and anything centerfire is pretty easy. In rimfire, 17 HMR is fully available. 22LR is better but there is room for improvement. Believe it or not, 22 Mag is by far the most difficult round to buy, especially quality stuff. The next time I can get a pallet of CCI/Certain Fed/Certain Fiocchi 22lr, I will order one for Calgunners! The last time I did that was Feb/2015 when I got 100,000 of CCI SV for .095 to my dock. Time to shoot for that number again and .085!

Big 5 in El Cajon has a decent batch of Aguila and RWS ammo. Got 100rds of Aguila super plus for $11. Only selling boxes of 50 but $5.49 per box is better than most stores I've been looking at.

Turners in Temecula had 325 federal auto match for 29.99 today. About twenty bricks.
