            Trap:

            Any info on a Winchester Model 94 S/N 12488XX? Marked as a Model 94 .30 W.C.F. and has a W directly below the serial?

            Thanks.

Made late 1948, 147,934 made that year.
Not sure what the "W" is about, but I can find out if you can post a pic of it.

Now the real brain twister....he has a rare stainless barrel on his. Originally painted with Japanese black because stainless won't blue. His barrel is clearly marked STAINLESS STEEL, and yours is marked NICKLE STEEL.
I was just comparing pics and those barrels look like twins. What got me thinking was the way yours has the finish worn the same way, and it doesn't look like bluing, it looks like Jap black. I'm wondering if Winchester didn't mis stamp your barrel, and it is in fact stainless.
                  Are you certain it's blued?
Measure that barrel for me, 20" would be a carbine, and 26" a rifle. It's in a Carbine stock, Carbine front sight, but the barrel looks longer in the pic.
I'm going to check with Bert and see if your gun will letter from Cody, and find out how it left the factory.
Trapp, any luck getting in touch with Bert?

The polishing room records exist, so it would be a safe bet that Cody can letter your gun. Most likely won't give you much history other than where it was shipped to, "if" they have that info. It will give you the day and month it was serial numbered, features it left the factory with, any special options, and if it ever came back for repairs or alterations.
If you contact Cody, they'll tell you up front if they have the records to letter the gun. If you do get one, post it here with a pic of the gun.

Made 1897, with 14,463 made that year.
Same year and caliber as the one I sold, and still kicking myself that I was dumb enough to sell it.
                              Any special features on it?
