Made about April of 1955, with 11,000 made that year.
Made 1933 to 1958, with a total of 174,692 made. Take down Winchesters had both halves serial numbered. The "A" suffix on the one serial number, denotes a change in production. Most of the production changes on the various models have been cataloged, sadly many others have been lost to time.

Thank you so much, 1955-got it!!! I got this rifle for FREE, and went on GunBroker.com and seen how some was asking for over $1,500.00, if not more. Not sure how much mine is worth, but I'll guess +/- around $1.5k?!?! After finding that out, I just stopped shooting the rifle and it now sits in my safe as the "safe queen" ;-)

          Model 90

Inherited a Model 90 in WRF 817886 and am guessing around 1910-15?

Nice old gun in nice shape.

Hey Trap, can you tell me if this can be lettered from Cody? Model 94 SN # 396358 I am trying to figure out if the barrel has been shortened. Also. I know most were 26" barrels though 22" barrels were produced. I impulse bought it at a gunshow a few months ago.

Made early in 1908, with 48,233 made that year.
                From Bert:
Unfortunately for all of the many collectors and interested people, all of the remaining pre-64 factory warehouse records (serial numbers 354,000 - 2,600,000+ were destroyed by burning them during the 1950s. Undoubtedly, all of the caliber, and the Rifle versus Carbine production number ratios would change drastically if the records were available for serial numbers 354,000 - 2,600,298. The Polishing Room Serialization Record Books (PRSRBs) which contain nothing more than just the serial number, fortunately survive up to serial number 1,352,066, which was manufactured on December 29th, 1945.
The polishing room records include your gun, I'll check with Bert to see if there is anything more than the serial DOM and get back to you. That rear sight would have been special order, and Winchester would do just about any barrel length too.
Can you see any remains of a dovetail cut on the bottom of the barrel?
Got a pic of the muzzle?

Ok I took a few more pictures. There is no evidence of a previous dove tail. And the muzzle has worn bluing that seems to exhibit a similar amount of wear as the rest of the rifle. There is a slight crown on the muzzle. The front sight is interesting as the blade is brass. All together an interesting rifle. Check out the pictures.

See the line on the top flat of the barrel, right at the muzzle? Looks like that "was" the rear edge of the front sight dovetail. Fairly common to cut them there, to correct a buggered up muzzle.
Just a guess, the front sight looks to be from a Model 1885 #2 or #3 contour barrel.
Does the screw holding the mag end cap go all the way through into the barrel?

I'll take a look when I get home from work. I believe what looks like the back of a dovetail is just a reflection. And I'll check on the screw also

Not sure if my rifle would qualifyfor this thread, but I have a thread going for restoring my 1895 Russian Contract here. In about a month or so I will be able to show it off.
