Hmm, after a little back and forth with GB on grips, I have found the Taylor's Gunfighter. Both with 4.75" and 5.5" barrels. Oh boy! Well, it's decision time. Both in .45 Colt, of course.

Tom, you have a SAA in .357, right?

Look for the Deluxe models from Taylor's, those are the models that have been adjusted by their smiths..
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Mark, only SA I have in .357 is a Ruger BH. Believe me, I'm checking these Taylor's. Finally realized I really like those Army grips. PM sent w/pics.

You need to get a Taylor's in .41mag or 44mag

Like I mentioned the DE at the end of the model numbers are they ones that the T n C smiths did some upgrading on.

When I bought my 3 Taylor's my LGS's distributor had them in stock so none of them have the custom tuning. Taylor's gunsmiths hand polish the action and upgrade to custom springs. That additional tuning usually costs between $100 and $150 extra.

A couple years ago it was $145.00 to get the DE.

You are closer than I was. The website lists the standard price and the DE price so I did some quick math in my head. I used the calculator on four models and they came out to $146.25.

It would be all right with me but we would use up too many pasters covering up the holes!

I brought home the Colt today but the Henry lever action rifle and carbine have not come in. So, I ordered the other Smoke Wagon in .357 magnum that I need to complete a set.

I was talking to the manager today about stag grips for the Colts. He said he had good luck with Hillbilly Grips. I've seen some of their grips online and they do very good work. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to do it.

Keep an eye out here. Sometimes some really impressive pieces show up. I've bought a bunch of stuff from him.

Made from pre-1972 Walrus or genuine Woolly Mammoth & Mastodon ivory. This and many more amazing and unique items can be found on the official Boone Trading Company website!

The "American Ivory" faux-ivory grips are actually REALLY nice, and most wouldn't know they're fakes. Much much much better than normal faux ivory. None listed for that Colt right now, but inventory changes somewhat often.

Yes, those are quality grips. I will check back to see if they post some SAA grips before I make a decision.

Check the bottom 2 rows on this page, maybe they will work for you.

The look and feel of ivory grips at a fraction of the cost. These grips can be carved or scrimshawed. Superior to other imitation ivory grips on the market.

The simulated American ivory looks very good and are a possibility. It's interesting, just last night I was reading about General Patton's Colt SAA and S&W .357 magnum with ivory grips.
