Mojave Lever Crew - Roll Call!

no problemI will soon be posting three Marlin and maybe a Winchester Lever actions of various calibers along with a pair of Colt 2nd Gen. Colt SAA's. in 38/357 matching in appearance but 300 or so numbers apart.
I'd like to offer them to the Crew first at a discount as you have to come to the Antelope Valley to transfer. Can't drive very far. Single item or a discounted package deal.
Is there a way to do that and not step on Kestrylls talons or is my idea offensive to the group?
post all of the rifles in one rifles for sale thread in that sub forum and don't bump more than once a day
post all of the handguns in one handguns for sale thread in that sub forum and don't bump more than once a day
to improve visibility you can cross post each for sale thread link in the other thread op as well as add both links to your signature to be seen everywhere you post
just browse any number of multi gun for sale threads in those subs for examples
the rules are in stickies at the top of those subs as well
good luck!I started out with nothing - and I still have most of itComment

I see that. It is weird, I could see the photo when I attached it and copied the link but now, as you say, it is a micro-dot in a black sea. But the photo is visible in my post. I don't get it.

GET A ROPE!
Well we're down in Bakes picking up a steer we had butchered. Our ranching partner calls and says "Ya got all your fencing tools with ya?" "No, they're in the other truck and we're down the hill picking up that steer, whats up?" He tells us that the fence has been cut again right where it was the last time. I ask him if he can button er up till we get there but we'll have to unload the meat first. He says he'll get er tied up. Relying on his former nautical experience as a Navy officer he does this:

Worked pretty darn good. It held it good while we blasted up the hill and unloaded the meat and grabbed the ranch truck. Ya can see the tire tracks coming onto the ranch. We follow em up Spring Canyon after fixing the fence and giving Steve his rope back. Tire tracks everywhere:

And then the #@$%^#$*^%ers are cutting down live oak trees!

Three trees! For what? Chainsaw practice? They drove by multiple dead and downed trees if they were looking for firewood. Don't get it. %$#^&*ers! Get a rope....maybe some MLC target practice. Whadya think?Last edited by Horsewright; 08-22-2021, 8:09 AM.Comment

That's there's a shootin' offense! or would be in Texas...
I don't even own that land and I'm plumb hangry seein' that. Too, oaks are protected in Cally-forn-eye-aye, aren't they? The tree is a no-go zone (unless as deadfall?).
I'm ready when you are. Too bad my trailer ain't finished. It would stash nicely cuz it ain't too big. Of course there'd be other hardware. The .22 would be just an appetizer....

Navy guy inland, and he does this?

Single piece of lanyard….That’s knot a bad solution.
(Smirnoff Ice uncooled and one bottle gone is questionable, but suggests efficiency.)

Thanks guys:
Apples: I know they are in certain parts like Thousand Oaks etc. Not around here though. But its still suppose to be your tree for sure! We have the PD come out and take a vandalism report when this happens for the liability on the fence. They wanted to know the value of the trees. How ya figure that?
Preston-CLB: I got a rope and some practice in:

So does the rest of the fam.

Penn: Second time cut in the same local about 6 weeks apart. Also cut the same way. Most times folks cut the fence in the middle between the posts. While aggravating a relatively easy repair. Both times here it was cut right at the T post. A much more difficult repair. Real #@$^*ers. This was literally one T post over from where it was cut last time and cut the exact same way. As ya said: F'ers!
Dvrjon: Well played sir, well played. The wife likes the sugar free Smirnoff which is difficult to find. When folks see it they tend to get it for her so Steve had picked this up and that bag of chips too, some funky but really good flavor that she likes. It was hot waiting for us (takes awhile to unload a whole cut and wrapped steer and get him in the freezer). So he had one. Afterwards the three of us went to the house and did up some ribeyes off this new guy. Cut em with a fork tender. We was worried cause pretty much all the stars were aligned against us on this years steer.Last edited by Horsewright; 08-23-2021, 8:37 AM.Comment

There are places that sell and plant mature trees.
A mature oak would probably be expensive because it took so long to grow.
Find one of these tree sellers and see what it would cost for a similar size replacement to be planted where the old one was.
Ask for a written quote.
That's probably best determination of value you can really get.

That's what you call pattern behavior.Second time cut in the same local about 6 weeks apart. Also cut the same way. Most times folks cut the fence in the middle between the posts. Setup a game camera to watch that area for the next time they do it because they have gotten away with it twice without being caught so they are probably getting more comfortable doing it now.Randall Rausch

Interesting idea on the tree too might be worth a call.
We do have a cam to put up there. The perplexion is its pretty wide open there where they are cutting the fence. I'm not sure where to put it so that it can see and not be seen. We've had two cams on the place stolen before. Both were watching the spring in the canyon where they cut the trees which is some drive from where they cut the fence. Some big bears up in there. Interestingly they were stolen some years apart. Both of these were up in a tree looking down on the spring.
The one we're thinking of putting up now here on the fence is the kind that sends the pic to your phone.Comment

That just pisses me off. *^&*&#$T^#*&%*!
It's a shame we've gotten so soft as a country that you can't really take care of it the way it should be.
Makes you want to lightly cover some tire spike strips there (if there's no stock that could get hurt by them).
Randall's game cam idea is probably the best solution, but I'd save the rope in the hopes that it could be put to good use along with one of the surviving oak trees.

Is there a battery camera on the market that texts or notifies you when there is movement and shows it to you? Just aim it at the fence where they keep cutting the fence.
Sure you will get a lot of false alerts when animals go by but worth it when you see a truck.
I really hope you catch the rats.
Sadly you can't shoot them but if you get there in time you could shoot their truck into submission. A couple dead tires means they wait for the Sheriff.Last edited by cannon; 08-24-2021, 8:12 AM.^^ Said by some lunatic on the internetComment

You ideally want an angle that gets them while they cut the fence and drive in and drive out so you can get the license plate. We do have a cam to put up there. The perplexion is its pretty wide open there where they are cutting the fence. I'm not sure where to put it so that it can see and not be seen. We've had two cams on the place stolen before. IF they are driving a good way to go cut trees, then you just need a camera somewhere along the path they have been using.
That camera won't be seen while they are cutting the fence or trees, but if you capture them driving in with empty truck and driving out with full truck of wood is certainly evidence enough to establish that they were on your land and stealing the oak.Randall Rausch
