Someone remarked in another thread (in Off Topic) that it is truly pathetic that we as a modern American society have to worry about ranting, immature liberals acting out their anger.

The "mostly peaceful" violent demonstrations, freeway blocking, etc, we have seen over these last months have created an atmosphere of real concern about our ride home Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday night next week (Election Week).

Regardless, I still want to go shooting one day next week. I've got a desert camping trip planned tentatively for the following week.

Went to the desert last weekend with pennwife. She wanted to see what this desert talk was all about. I actually think she liked it! She was looking around for some small rocks and I, went about shooting my new Taylor. Damn, that Taylor SHOOTS! It seems to prefer 7.2gr Universal/250gr rnfp. Then pennwife says,"I want to shoot that". Four rounds, well, she did hit the desert! That was it for her, then I shot the last 25 rounds and called it a day. Damn good day in the Mighty Mojave!

Mark, the trigger on the Taylor is outstanding! Hits pretty much on target, windage is spot on and does not shoot low. 7.2gr Universal seems to work well in both guns. Hey, if Chris brings a trailer out there, we can drink beer while he cleans the guns! That sound about right?

If Apples agrees to be the MLC armorer (which I am doubting), he will never get lost in the desert. That Hoppes smell lasts for days. MLC cologne!

They did indeed reply this afternoon....
6-8 weeks, upon payment, etc.
That is pretty fast, and interesting in that the prices haven’t been jacked.
I’ll order as soon as I hear about the status of another project; if it dosen’t work out, I’ll get going on a Standard(s).

Well, after doing a good bit of research, I’ve decided to go with a Freedom Arms model 83, in .454, with an additional fitted .45ACP fluted cylinder, 3.5 lb trigger with over travel stop, barrel band front and grip sling studs.
Not sure if I want the Premier or Field grade version, so that’s something to consider.
Now to see how long that will take, and sourcing .454 brass.
Very likely early next year.
