Will do. I'll need to take it down from the wall display and dust it off.
I fired it at the Nationals last July and did pretty well, but it turns out I like the "original" better.

That's a nice looking copy, I'm sure someone will snap it up. I sent an email with a link to my friend in CA, I think he's looking for one. If so, he'll click the link and hit you up....If anybody is interested in a Winchester 94AE, 30-30 made in USA, 2001-2002. let me know. I'm going to post it up in the marketplace this week. I'm asking $650.00. The gun looks brand new. Not a single mark on it.

OK - just finished re-assembling the 9422M I fished off of GunBroker and posted about earlier. Clean-up of the metal was pretty straightforward, and I'm very pleased with the results. Some freckling and so forth here and there, but for the most part the small rust blossoms carded off with almost no issues, and the bluing is still nice. The side of the bolt that is visible from the ejection port had some pitting and staining, but the judicious application of a Dremel polishing felt tip loaded with jeweler's rouge took care of that.
In the end, I decided to go with the straighter grained butt stock because it matched the fore-stock very nicely, and as a pair they look really nice. I had to sand the front a bit, both to get out some of the small scratches and also to match the color more closely to the new butt stock. I did not sand the butt stock at all because it was already "finished". However, I applied two thin coats of Tru-Oil, knocked down the shine with 0000 steel wool, and waxed it with several coats Bowling Alley wax. I hand-buffed that, and got the satin sheen I was looking for. I think it came out nice, take a look:

I never really liked it. I tried to get past the rebounding hammer but I just can't.
I'd like to get a pre 64 or a Marlin. Am I asking too much?
I know everybody says that their gun for sale looks new. This gun is 20 years old and it shows absolutely no wear at all. I usually have dings in the wood or scratches in the bluing within the 1st month or two.It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.
Happiness is a warm gun.

I had a Miroku in 38-55. Stunningly beautiful fit and finish. But the tang safety and the rebounding hammer were more than I could bear.
As far as asking too much - hard to say..... gun prices are all over the place right now. I saw a beautiful pre-64 '94 carbine in 32WS go for $850 last week on GB, as well as a really nice one in 30-30 for just over $1,000. I only look at pre-64's, cuz that's what I like, so for a $200 delta I would have opted for the clean 32WS I saw. Almost couldn't control myself on that one, and I already have a nice copy.
I think your gun is worth the $650 though, and someone will probably come along and grab it. A quick search on GB completed auctions shows them going for $600 - $800Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

Thanks. For $800, I think I did OK even though I had to do all that cleanup. The bonus is that the serial number puts it at 1973, so it's an early one. I'm going to try and ping Simpson's tomorrow and see what the name engraving is all about.Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale?
