And the only requirement for membership in the Mojave Lever Crew is a *desire* to own a lever-action long gun (if for some reason they don't have one, yet).

Congratulations on acquiring such a beautiful rifle. CCH and octagonal barrel are both desirable features to me. Hopefully, mine will arrive someday.

Went shooting with a group of friends this past weekend. Two of the guys had never fired a 45-70 before so I let them both have a few shots with my Marlin 1895 Guide Gun. Just simple stuff like a steel gong at 100 yards and some 2-liters at about 15 yards. Ammo was my handloads; a 405 grain lead bullet and IMR4198 loaded to be safe in a Trapdoor Springfield.
When they were done both of them felt like this:

Myself? I'm just the rigging guy. I oversee canopy tie-down safety and stuff like that, against what the Mojave desert has to offer.
That said, I doubt any of us have an 1873 the likes of yours or the one recently acquired by new member Kerplow..

That is indeed a gorgeous ‘73. I need to find a good setting to get some pics of mine in the sunshine.
I was sorting out some brass I’ve been collecting over the years and found I’ve got a couple hundred pieces of 30-30.

Stunning rifle........ but it pains me to see a hat mistreated that way.
Perhaps now might be a good time to discuss proper hat etiquette...
At the very least I know that one places his hat upside down on any stable surface...
Between bigbossman and Horsewright, I am fairly certain that IN THE SPIRIT of the MLC we may be enlightened and in a sincere manner.
