Millenial dreamer or on drugs likely. Never attempted to build a rifle or shot much. Randall nailed it.

The point of most posts is to point out your dream build and then see how close you can come to it.
If you read Divers post most hunters will switch to a Barnes or similar bullet do to name recognition but with a low bc number and have terrible performance.
For those listening the Cutting Edge or other bullets with a better than average bc will actually give an edge up.

          Pretty much this.

But I have to say, the original post was entertaining.

Do you have a rifle that fits all of these criteria?

            A) Weighs less than 8.5 lbs without an optic or ammo.

            C) Can be used for an elk hunt.

            D) Uses readily available factory ammo.

            E) Has a street price of less than $1,200 (no optic).

Do I have to build, or am I looking for a factory rifle?

This is the same post with one criteria removed.

Yes Diver I know the CEB are on the approved list. I was just making a point to those in this thread that might not know there even is a list.

Also not trying to say Lynn didnt know either, because Im sure he does.

Not sure if this was directed at me or not. But I dont think its realistic to expect an 8.5lb rifle to hit an 8" target 9 times out of 10 at 1200 yards in under a minute while using factory ammo.

Yes well, it's obvious that the rifle cannot shoot itself.
And if you look at the OP you'lll notice I tried to isolate the rifle from the shooter as much as possible. I had two main reasons for doing this:

                    1) The post as written already brings into play a lot of subject material. Posters on this site tend toward free association with their answers to begin with. I'm eager to learn about other aspects of precision shooting, and will likely be posting questions related to marksmanship in the future. One thing at a time.

                    2) I have other rifles. At this point they are all more precise than I am. Maybe it will always be this way. Nevertheless, it makes sense that a precision rifle will be a better training tool than those I currently own. The groups one can shoot are feedback on the shooters mechanics and ability. The more precise the rifle is, the more the feedback speaks to the shooters actions alone.

So I want a precision rifle to improve my shooting skills. But I don't want something that is so specialized that it cannot be used in the field. Maybe I will acquire a target rifle at some time in the future, but not right now.

I saw the splash. Impact was 15 ft to the right and well short. On both shots.

That's 6 seconds per shot for 10 shots. Can a human even do that? I thought I read somewhere the 1000 yard light gun record is something like .4 moa. Doing .67 moa 200 yards farther in the time limit seems impossible.
