Would not recommend briniging a CZ to one of their classes.

and I their opinions don't matter to me in the least.

I have seen countless Glocks and 1911's fail at simple IDPA matches while my CZ's plow through 300 round count matches with zero issues.

Depends what your comparing it to.

For me yes I think it is large for CCW, I mean the grip is fairly short and thinner than fullsize guns, but compared to my PPS I would label it huge. I would imagine for winter it would not be much of a problem to carry (just thicker than other options) and will shoot better than most other 45 carry sized guns. It's about the size of a G19. For EDC I'll probably use my PPS if Kamala Harris would stop her whining already. I think it will be a great all purpose gun. XDS in 45 would probably be better for a Every Day carry pistol in 45, but I would certainly trust the HK more than an XDS, and it will be a more accurate and shooter and fire at a higher velocity too. I have seen some tests from the XDS with 3.3" barrel an with the right ammo expansion looks fine. Basically the HK45C fits my hands better than any sub compact, and I will likly trust if over my other carry guns, however it's kinda too big, and I probably won't carry it nearly as often. BTW I don't have a holster for it yet or anything or a CCW so my experience on the matter isn't the best. I might still pickup an XDS, I have one more SSE slot available starting on the 31st of december. I would buy a Walther or HK over an XD, but they don't make anything quite like the XDS in 45acp, so I'll take what I can get.

Since you like HK's, and also wanted it for range use as well as potential CCW, I think it will be hard to do better and this is why I suggested it. Get one while you can.


Oh yea, and I have only shot my PPS one trip (just got it a couple weeks ago) but it was quite fun at the range. Just my two cents!

Have ~$1000 to spend on a CCW/range gun, need input on what you guys what would you get and why? No Glocks, SW Shield, XDS, Kahrs, or revolvers. Anything else is fair game.

I also recommend a ruger LC9 or keltec p11, if you can find them (that f##king roster!)

The sig sp2022 is also nice. The way I see it, you can spend $500 or less on the gun, and the rest of your budget can go towards magazines and ammo, both practice/range and defensive ammo.

I comfortably carry one all day in a Sparks VM2 IWB.

It's a bit bigger than a Glock 19, but if you can comfortably carry that (and anyone can unless you're tiny or very obese, most likely) you can hide the HK45c.

It's not my first or even second choice for summer, but it *will* conceal IWB under a tee shirt or polo shirt. Yes, it prints a bit, but nobody will notice.

Look at it this way - You can't have your cake and eat it, too. You want something slim and small for easy carry? You want a range pistol? Or you want a happy medium?

I think the HK45C, or a Walther PPQ, Glock 19, HK P30, VP9 (I own all of those) are in that happy medium. They aren't 12-month carry guns, but you can definitely carry any of those most of the year, and enjoy them on the range.

I really love the Walther PPS - Flat, super easy to conceal, light, but for its size the PPS is a very nice little range gun. If you're a "shoot 50 rounds and leave" kind of guy, consider something smaller... but if you're like me, and you never bother with a range trip without minimum 200 rounds of ammo... it gets tiring. I enjoy shooting it more than the larger Glock 26, or a j-frame. I have owned and CCW'ed both of those guns, too.

To be honest, I might enjoy shooting the PPS more than my P2000sk, which I do shoot well, and is larger than the PPS. It's just a fun little gun.

A lightweight Commander sized 1911 works too. I would most definitely not go any shorter than a 4 inch barrel for reliability reasons (Bruce Gray of Grayguns has a great article on his website regarding this), but a 4 or 4.25 inch lightweight 1911 works great. Bad thing is this - The ones I'd trust and recommend are well above your budget. Ed Brown Kobra Carry Lightweight or Wilson Combat Professional Lightweight.

Carry guns are often small (if CCW), while range tend to be more full-size.

The HK USP Compact series fit both roles. Excellent reliability and build quality, carry well, shoot great, and high-end in cost and performance. Plus, HK has a $200 rebate in December.
