up, people in the know have been buying since early last year when the first SSE ban was going through the legislature. we were shocked when Jerry actually vetoed it, but read his veto message and knew it was going to be back again this year. we basically got an extra 12 months of SSE that we weren't expecting. And even us that have been buying for the last year are having to make decisions on what to get, and with some models not being released until December makes it nail-biting, but if we dont' get that XYZ gun, oh well, that's life.

Why would you be worried about the shipping cost. You're screwed if this doesn't get done by the end of the year.

Put you're big boy pants on and realize sometimes stuff just doesn't work out like you want. Stop your whining if you can't get a second gun it's not the end of the world.

Clearly, the OP is a young guy that panicked cut him some slack.

Seems like everyone should cut OP some slack, 95% of shooters don't even know what sse is and get very confused about it. Bunch of people denigrating noObs is not really good for the sport.

              Sse first timer, very frustrated!!!""

              C'mon, 13 calls in 30 minutes?

I only do that when I call the CADOJ after they mixed up my DROS.

It is always something you schedule, and expect to wait up to 6 weeks.

I had to wait 4 weeks just to SSE a P226 recently, but it was no problem because I started the process 4 weeks before I could DROS again anyhow. All my SSEs have been arranged a month or two in advance for at least the last 6 pistols. You need to be thinking a month ahead, or more.

Also, buying a pistol from somewhere else then transferring it in for SSE usually gets you 2nd class service compared to customers who bought the pistols from the FFL doing the SSE - just sayin. This is the worst time possible to be new to SSE and trying to buy off roster pistols on your own out of state for a dealer transfer. Every dealer I know, large and small, has a waiting list for SSE.

And don't blame anyone for your other dream pistol being out of stock, you always had the option of buying it when you could. I have harder to get pistols I paid for 3 months ago still waiting for the right time to DROS. My last SSE of the year was locked in with cash months ago. This is also not the time to be doing Just In Time purchases on hard to get guns. Get them locked in when you see them, 'cause the party is over Jan 1.
                +

I have an FFL that I do a reasonable amount of business with.
He told me months ago if I want to do a last SSE or to get in line fast.
I always contact my FFL before I ship any gun to him SSE or not to look at availability and schedule times.

Maybe it's just me but I like to know what I'm in for before I jump inwith both feet.

Plenty of research can be done online now if a noob. If you can learn how to work on a car or program online, you can learn 90% of the basics of sse. Anyone that had any planning ability also knew sse was ending. If the noob had poor planning and could not get a 2nd gun, man up and be happy with one vs complaining. It also helps if the noob has some class and dignity.

I gotta agree here. It is confusing, even with any online research.

13 calls in 30 minutes is due to panicking over an expensive gun and not knowing where to ship it.

This is one of those "OK, eveyone has ranted, let's calm down and solve this", which it looks like Baboosh did, and from OP's lack of posting, he's probably figuring out what to do now.

It's not the end of the world.

Well, 95% of people can't work on their own cars and 99.9% of people can't write code. He messed up (very minorly, it's not like he robbed an old lady). But by all means, let the beatings continue.
