VP9 Hype

I handled a VP9 in the store was disappointed like the OP. The reset on it was pretty meh... nowhere near a PPQ and that just isn't opinion. If you handle one next to the other, you'll notice the VP9 kicks your trigger finger further out upon the trigger resetting. To say this is opinion is just downright ridiculous. That's like saying a DA Sig trigger pull being heavier than it's SA trigger pull is subjective. How different you think one is from the other is subjective... but the fact there is a difference is objective.

But saying one is better than the other overall is subjective.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Well said. The difference is there if you have them side by side. It is undeniable. It's not because i was in a weird mood or experiencing smoothness in a different way someone else would. As long as you have a mild grasp on the english language and know the difference between the words "smooth" and "crunchy" you will have the same experience I did

What specifically was "garbage" about the ppq?

as i recall, i had a problem with a few things...fit, finish, trigger feel and what i viewed as "harshness" or rough feel when shooting. my p99 was superior in every way imo and has very similar "harshness".

the first time i shot the vp9, i put a lot of rounds through it. something over 300 as i recall and i felt i could shoot another 300 and not be tired of it at all. i do get worn out shooting my glocks for that amount of time but not my sigs so that is where i make the comparison. i personally thought the trigger on the vp9 was better than a 226 out of the box.

my shooting partner that day also put a lot of rounds through it and had a similar experience.

neither the ppq or vp9 was new when i shot them, both had an unknown amount of rounds through them but both were maintained well.

I like almost all guns, including HK. I own several and had good experience with
Warranty when needed. The VP9 has a limited lifetime warranty and that's good enough for me.

i get what youre talking about with the crunch feel. i believe sigs have a crunch when brand new as well and tend to go away and smooth out after 500 rounds or so.

I was looking to get both. Broke my PPQ M2 out of jail Weds. Haven't shot it yet but WOW when compared to my M&Ps (so far).

Quite frankly, a VP9 will end up costing about $150 more than my PPQ. Given the similarities, I think I may pass on the VP9.

A lot of people are trying to decide between the PPQ and VP9. Here the VP9 is actually a little bit cheaper than the PPQ so I went it. And I figure it might be easier to trade the vp9 for a PPQ should I not like it.

Very cool! I love my PPQ. Personally I like my PPQ reset over my VP9 reset as well. That is the 5 inch PPQ as well right? That thing is like a laser for me. Love mine!

Yea its a 5" 9MM version. It took me a little while to find one, but it was worth it. I love the look of the 5" Version.

The Hype?

- it's a new gun on the market
- it's made by HK
- it's striker fired (lots of people like that)
- has a good trigger
- price point is cheap when compared to other HK pistols
- SSE ends soon so people are grabbing them while they can
- and again, it's made by HK so you have that fan base and name brand recognition.

You can take that for what it's worth.

I was using freedom munition 115 gr reloads for the first 2 rounds. But then the same mag has 147 gr UMC ammo in it and no more FTE after that mag.

Same ammo as mine with the FTE for what it's worth

I have 8 HKs. My 9th will be the VP9. The only time I've had to contact HK customer service was when they sent me the wrong size t-shirt.

VP9 tested with 90,000 rounds from Hk. 90,000 rounds!!

False. They tested the P30 for 90k and have stated the barrel is the same.

Fantastic guns!! I purchased both a 4" and the 5" model. 9mm
very smooth, accurate and the trigger reset is amazing!
the quality is very good, and the ergonomics excellent.
There are now 10 round mags available, purchased some from Exile Machine.
Do yourself a favor and buy one of these guns before the end of the year,

HKs are worth every penny since you can load bullets forwards or backwards in their magazines. Revolutionary design if you ask me. Again, just my opinion.

Same ammo as mine with the FTE for what it's worth

Good thing that I am not using either the gun or the ammo for home defense or CCW. It's all for having fun at the range so its all good. I had FTF with the Automag III in 30 carbine and FTE with the Sig p238 all in the same day and I rarely have any problem with all my centerfire guns.
