I was recently in the debate between a VP9 or PPQ. To be honest with you I honestly never thought I'd ever own a Walther. Not that I didn't like Walther or anything, they just never had gotten my attention. I've always known Walther for the PPK and never really paid attention to much else they had put out. Don't get me wrong we all know Walther for great products, but IMO they have just been behind the times a bit.

After making a few calls I ended up at Solar Tactical. As soon as I held the PPQ and pulled the trigger it was fantastic. Smooth as glass with a very nice clean brake, then I tried the reset and was blown away. It feels worlds better then a stock Glock trigger. Its like shooting my SA TRPs trigger. I still cant get over how light and smooth the trigger is. I couldn't be happier with the PPQ and I haven't even shot it yet. The PPQ's ergo's are also fantastic, I will give the VP9 credit though. I think the VP9s Poly feels better. It feels less "plasticy" then the PPQ, but the price difference between the two justifies that IMO.

I dont think you can go wrong with either one. Both manufactures are great and have a long history of good firearms.

Anyways, I'm sure the VP9 will be good, doubt it will displace my PPQ as my CCW. The VP9 is definitely the "flavor of the month" right now.
      You lucky dogg.....congrats!

haha sorry, I will never own a Glock.

How's that PPS? The PPS is scheduled to be my Sept or Oct SSE.

I've held & dry fired it side by side with a Shield & XDS, I prefer it, but haven't & won't have the chance to shoot it b4 I buy it.

Very cool! I love my PPQ. Personally I like my PPQ reset over my VP9 reset as well. That is the 5 inch PPQ as well right? That thing is like a laser for me. Love mine!

In theory, it should be YOUR OPINION that you base YOUR PURCHASE on!

I dry fired both. I slightly like the PPQ trigger better. I'd say the VP9 is a different take on the fully cocked striker fired plastic pistol. Just another flavor, neither better nor worse than the PPQ. I chose the PPQ for the mag release button and nice trigger. I also "run Glocks". To be honest, there are many guns with better triggers and many with worse, though trigger feel is subjective.

Both nice guns for sure, and I think VP9 hype is well deserved, with SSE ending and it being the newest thing on the market. The PPQ is riding that hype as well since the two guns are compared so often, and the 5" PPQ had just arrived.

I also wouldn't say they are Glock Killers, just another variant of a theme, though with fully cocked strikers. This may or may not be good or bad, depending on your own philosophy.

Both guns feel great in the hand.

My first 2 rounds from the VP9 were FTE. After that it runs fine. Both of my PPQ were 100% from day one so 1 for PPQ and 0 for VP9. After that they both shot about 3 to 4 inch group at 10 yds and to me, it's a shooter problem. I haven't been to the range for 3 to 4 months.

Overall I shot my CZ SP-01 the best and it's the cheapest out of the 3. I will need to adjust the sight on the PPQ and somehow push the sight on my VP9 then go out again.

I completely understand it. Shootability of a gun is subjective, since we all have different hands, eyes, shooting style, etc. However, unlike many other things, it's often hard to sample a particular model of a gun, gun ranges can't have everything! Hearing opinions of people who you respect and expect to know what they are talking about, and who have handles way way more guns than we have personally is valuable.

Like movie reviews. You find a critic that has similar tastes to your own and maybe see a movie based on their review.

Reviews ARE subjective. However if you read many UNBIASED reviews on a product, it's generally a good indicator of quality or lack thereof.

In the vein of the OP

I don't own any striker fired or poly weapons but my opinion of the VP9, PPQ, Shield, Glock, and XD are that they not as heavy as a CZ, Ruger, or 1911. Plus the triggers are totally different. NOT OPINION BUT OBSERVATIONAL FACT!

What type of ammo were you using? I had FTE from my first VP9 with 115 grain 9mm for the first 200 rounds, then perfect through next 900

My other 3 Vp9's ran 100% but using 124 grain 9mm (which is the recommended break in bullet weight). 115 grain FTE until broken in is documented issue I believe.

When I get my 5th i'm only going to run 115 through it and see how long it has issues for =)

This is true..unless you are blessed with the funds to buy and sell if you don't like (which of course is even better)

I was using freedom munition 115 gr reloads for the first 2 rounds. But then the same mag has 147 gr UMC ammo in it and no more FTE after that mag.

I handled a VP9 in the store was disappointed like the OP. The reset on it was pretty meh... nowhere near a PPQ and that just isn't opinion. If you handle one next to the other, you'll notice the VP9 kicks your trigger finger further out upon the trigger resetting. To say this is opinion is just downright ridiculous. That's like saying a DA Sig trigger pull being heavier than it's SA trigger pull is subjective. How different you think one is from the other is subjective... but the fact there is a difference is objective.

But saying one is better than the other overall is subjective.

VP9 fans have become worse than us glock fanbois
