G19 - STUCK

doh.. when i got my G19 Gen4, it didn't come with mags, since it was blue labeled. ordered 2 mags from Placer Tactical on here and just found this thread. had no problem shooting FM 115g loads, but now that i got some Federal Premium HST 9mm 124 grain for HD use.. i'm kinda concerned.

guess i'll shoot a couple rounds of it and see if i get FTF.

Had to have been Answered by now; haven't read thru the thread. CA 10rd mags have followers that aren't very hollowpoint friendly

You'll never see this issue in a gen 3 glock 26 because its standard capacity is ten and therefore they come with standard capacity magazine followers

If you're carrying hollowpoints in 10rd mags with crap followers, you better train yourself to tap the mag like second nature on a jam

Humm interesting... When I shot at the range using FM loads I didn't have slam the mag into the GLOCK, whereas with the hollow point loaded in, I had to slam the mag or press up on it hard to get it clipped in. Followers 2183 issue maybe?

How common is the follower issue?

I had a G19 and sold it a few years back and I'm in the process of acquiring a new one.
I have to say that reading about the follower issues is concerning me. Ordering 9mm6 followers and sanding them down doesn't seem like that big of a deal but can the G19 be trusted to run SD ammo when needed?

Fox75: the G19 Gen4 i recently sold had follower 2183. shot about 50rds of federal HST 124g with no FTF issue. other than that.. Glock wasn't my cup of tea

I have yet to have a failure of any kind since changing to 9mm6. All 6 of my mags run flawlessly.

I have the upmost confidence now, that should this gun ever be needed, it will go bang 10 times with hollow point ammo.

My experience has been the same as rbensi. Not a single malfunction with FMJ or HP ammo since changing to 9mm6 followers in all 6 of my magazines

Well, my G19 3rd Gen has been eating just over 1,000 rounds FMJ of various brands and about 300+ Winchester Ranger 147gr HP's. So far, not one hiccup. I ordered the replacement followers and haven't swapped them out yet. The magazines have been operating flawlessly for months now since this post went up.

Seems like the issue isn't with FMJ's, but light weight HP's with bigger openings. The Winchester 147gr HP's have a slightly narrower and tapered nose/mouth than other brands. Since I only shoot/carry the Rangers, I don't think I'll be switching followers any time soon.

I don't know how common it is but I couldn't feed JHP ammo with 2183 followers.

Would loading FMJ as the last round work? I saw it mentioned earlier in this thread but no one seemed to jump on board with it.

Also, those of you whao have purchased the 9mm6 followers is it better to sand the magazine or the follower itself? Seems like the follower would be better since its a $2 part.

I simply used a brand new Exacto blade, in an Exacto blade knife.
I only cut the magazines. You only need to take off tiny little curls in the right place.

You will easily see where to cut and how much when pushing the 9mm6 into the magazine.

I was leary about cutting the mags, but when I saw how little it takes, I just went for it.

The worst part of the whole process, IMHO, is taking those 10 round mags apart.
I know Magpul, or somebody, makes a tool for this. I used an 1 3/4" modelers vice to get the job done.

I have done it both ways. Functionally they both work the same but trimming the magazine with an Exacto blade looks cleaner than the sanded follower.
