Pretty sure all Sphinx's have metal frames with polymer grips. The one we shot in April had steel slide, hard anodized aluminum frame and polymer grip inserts. Looking at website, I see "stainless" version has steel slide and frame...but same polymer grips. Stainless version is, of course, heavier than one with aluminum frame

We're still waiting to see. Right now, the 10 rounders aren't available. When they are, Mike @ OC Armory should be good to go just like JackRydden previously pointed out. Mike wasn't in today (Saturday) so I couldn't discuss this with him. Don't know what he plans to charge for a Sphinx, don't know if he's willing to do a group buy. Like JackRydden said before, we're just a bunch of guys trying to make this happen. No guarantees. But since so many of us want one, we're certainly trying our best.Comment

The Sphinx website shoes the duo tone as production; are these available? Or is it only black for now?Comment

Thanks for keeping us informed.OK folks, unfortunately Mike was off on Saturday so there's no new information regarding a possible group buy. I did talk to Tim Sergeant at KRISS / Sphinx this past week. He confirmed that he has been in contact with Mike ( I think Mike / OC Armory will be an authorized dealer ). Tim also said that the 10 round magazines are supposed to be in production; he's hoping they will be available within a few weeks. As JackRydden said, Mike is just waiting on their availability. Again, nothing's definite here. We're still trying to get as much information possible to see if a group buy can be done. Judging from what I heard at last night's OC Calguns shoot, there are still plenty of us who are very serious about getting a Sphinx. I'll keep you posted (as will others among us who are looking into this too).sigpicComment

Spoke with Mike today. He has been in touch with Sphinx and hopes the 10 rounders will be available in June. I told him that there's a bunch of us on Calguns who are interested and asked about a possible group buy. He's open to the idea - especially since he has additional clients who are also interested in the Sphinx. He does not have pricing available yet. I told him we may have ten or more members who are interested. Mike pointed out that a potential problem with a group buy is how many guns Sphinx actually makes available to him. We also spoke briefly about the logistics of SSE'ing that many handguns - Mike said that when it comes to that point, we'll work something out. So, really nothing too new to report. We, including Mike, are waiting for Sphinx to get those ten rounders available. Hopefully, the mags AND enough pistols will soon be available so we can start talking price . . .Comment

Count me in group buy!
I can't wait June. Hopefully bi-tone one....Comment

So is the all black compact the only configuration available for the time being? I don't mean to keep bothering, but I can't seem to get a hold of the company. I sent them an email over a week ago, and only got an automated reply that they'd respond soon.
I'm interested in the full stainless and/or bitoneComment

If the company is not responding to our contact, what will the after sales service look like, anybody have business experience with them who can give his/her input? And I encourage the group buy organizers to start a preliminary list of preferred finish. Black, stainless, krypton ..._________________________________________

I'd take it in order of preference - #1 - Black, #2 - Alpha, #3 - Krypton
but the out the door price needs to be less than $1k.
GB has them right now for about $850-$900 + 125 SSE = $975 - $1025. So I can do that anytime. So for a group buy, it needs to be less than that to make it worthwhile for me to do it immediately.Comment

For me it's also a matter of supporting my local shop who has treated me very well since the beginning. I also don't want to talk to a gunbroker seller about the legality of the gun. Each to their own.Comment

Tim has been responding to Dennis if you read the older posts. The latest update is that he is hoping the 10 rounders would be available in June which means that not even Sphinx knows exactly when they are going to hit the market. Rest assured that the 10 rounders do exist as many of us has shot with it. It's only a matter of time for production and logistics to work it out. You can decide if the service is worth it for you.If the company is not responding to our contact, what will the after sales service look like, anybody have business experience with them who can give his/her input? Dennis and I are not the group buy organizers and there isn't an official group buy at the moment as previously mentioned therefore we are not going to have a preferred list. We simply go to OC Armory often so we communicate with the would be dealer. Right now everybody just need to be patient until the whole thing shakes out.Comment
