It may be a bit too rich for my buying habits right now, and I'm not sure I'll be buying any more hammer-fired guns again but that pic in the OP's initial post shows a gun that is just amazing looking. It does have that Rolex/swiss watch perfect fit all over it. If I'm ever lucky enough to see one at a LGS I will have to take a (very dangerous to my wallet) closer look.
Thanks for the post.

Last year, the bill that would have ended SSE was vetoed because it would have limited private party transfers of guns already in CA that were not on the roster to 2 per year. Governor Brown said in his veto message: "AB 169 would close a loophole in the single shot exemption. That makes sense.".
Therefore, it stands to reason that a new bill that doesn't restrict PPT's, will be signed into law. There is always hope, but it doesn't look good.Comment

Guys, I'm waaaay late to this thread, but I'm definitely interested in getting my hands on one these.
KRISS is at Raaghaue's this year and they brought a Sphinx SDP. I think I was one of the very few people that knew what it was and asked to shoot it (most where there to shoot the Vectors). The guy manning the booth eyes lit up when I asked him about it. He even took the time to break it down and show me that there are no machining marks inside and the heat treatment. Every straight line on that thing is a lock up point and it is a fantastically tight gun. I was just so natural to shoot, crisp/clean trigger with nice short reset.
If you ever wanted to try one, now is your chance. Raahauge's / Turner's sportsman's fair.
PS - I asked about bringing it to the California Market and they said 1) They can't make them fast enough as it is, (nevermind the microstamping crap) and 2) He didn't think 10 round mags were available yet, but were in the process to satisfy other State's needs..

The whole concept is that the Slide/Frame/Grip are modular and available in a number of materials. The Sphinx rep even told me they made some in Titanium, but have stopped for now. For now, it looks like the combos will be set by model, but in the future, the rep imagined people being able to custom order virtually any combo of materials so satisfy their wants/needs. I'll post some pics of the catalog from my phone.Pretty sure all Sphinx's have metal frames with polymer grips. The one we shot in April had steel slide, hard anodized aluminum frame and polymer grip inserts. Looking at website, I see "stainless" version has steel slide and frame...but same polymer grips. Stainless version is, of course, heavier than one with aluminum frame.

You will want to take the weight it states in the booklet with a grain of salt. I began looking through the booklet KRISS handed out at the Calguns OC shoot and compared the specs to their website. On the website the weight discrepancy between the stainless steel and the other SDPs is a lot more than is stated in the booklet. Due to the discrepancy I have seen in the booklet and the website, I would think the website is more up to date than the booklet they printed off who knows when.

I called OC Armory last Thursday and was told that their order has not been fulfilled yet. I guess they are still stuck on 10 round mags. The guns are available just not the state compliant mags.
I know there is the transfer out of state route but I do not want to own anything that does not have native 10 round mags steadily available.Comment

Yup, I was in at OC Armory on Sat, and Mike told me the same thing, no word yet. There are a few on GB... one "Black" one instead of the Alpha if anyone is in a hurry & wants to SSE it.I called OC Armory last Thursday and was told that their order has not been fulfilled yet.
