Ditto! Krypton green compact and I'm all over it!

I've never shot one, but they are copies of the CZ 75. I own a CZ 75b in .40 cal. and have shot 9mm versions. They and all the copies I've handled fit the hand like a glove. They are crazy accurate due to the slide in frame fit. But at that price I would recommend a CZ or EAA witness at 1/3 the cost of a Sphinx. The Sphinx is sexier though."A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity."

From the description their website they are the evolution of the CZ line, in this case I think the SDP is the closest cousin to the CZ P-07. The craftsmenship for both is like night and day, billet steel and aluminium on the Sphinx exhumes quality. Each slide is custom fitted to match the aluminium reciever. Better sights than the P-07, better machining, better finish, etc. I own an SP01 and when I was fondling the SDP at this years Shot Show, the way the slide moves you can tell there is no comparison. The Sphinx is a much higher grade firearm than the CZ. I'm sure both shoots about the same but if you appreciate quality the Sphinx ranks way up there with HK and Sig.
I think the comparison is closer to a Spikes Tactical AR vs. a Noveske AR, they are technically the same but they are different and the price reflects that.Comment

I might be down to carpool. The Krpton green is cool and I'd be down for one but honestly I'm game for any color...whatever is avail firstComment

So I just tried searching for mags or mag compatibility with this gun - so far I haven't found any info and haven't found any info in regards to where one would obtain additional magazines either. However, the fact that they are cz clones and that the full size magazine holds 17 rounds like a sp01 and mecgar aftermarket does gives me hope.
Again if anyone knows anything... Please say so.
Also, yes, prices for group buy? Sphinx 2000 prices as well if possible

On the Kriss website they listed two models for the SDP, a 15+1 and a 10+1. So I think the only obstacle would be finding an SSE barrel compatible with the SDP.Comment

OC Armory can do the job, they are just waiting for 10 round mags.
The SDP does not take CZ mags. I asked the KRISS people and they confirmed that the SPD will have its own mag. If it does use CZ mags we would not be waiting

Yes they've been listed for a while (since last March when I talked to them) but they did not get to making them until April of this year. This information came from Tim of KRISS when I met him on 4/11/14. He said that they are supposed to be releasing them this month.
No it's the compact. The standard size is supposed to be out later this year.Comment

Did some searching - looks like the sdp is the successor to the 2000 and 3000, both of which are discontinued. Somewhat surprising to me seeing as how neither one has been in production very long. Guess I'll have to look for those separately.
Anyways, not sure if I want a compact sized sdp as I was looking for a full sized which isn't out yet... but I have a feeling I may get a compact eventually anyways. Also need to figure out if I want the poly/aluminum frame, all aluminum, or the all steel frame. Do you guys have a date for by which you are planning to order? That or if I don't buy at that date, would any of you be gracious enough to let me see and hold the aluminum vs poly sdp to see what balances better in my hands?
Shame about the mags. Thanks for a clear and definitive answer though Jack. Do know the 2000 was compatible, and minor issues, if any, were solved via sphinx followers... **rant on** Find it silly when clone firearms or evolutions decide to use their own slightly modified mags that are not compatible but don't offer some noticeably functional difference/advantage and just feel like company squeezing $. Worse though is how availability often ends up being sporadic for various reasons, especially with (relatively) smaller import brands. Hopefully I end up 100% wrong and they offer an advantage over cz/mecgar at a comparable price and stay readily available over time... Much like what happened 2 years later after scar17 mags came out (vs fal mags). **ok sorry rant off**Last edited by penguinofsleep; 05-05-2014, 10:50 AM.Comment

At this moment I do not know what variations will be available at the start. The one I shot was the polymer grip model. As someone who only owns alloy and steel guns I actually don't mind a polymer grip for a change. You can't really tell that it's polymer with the grip they have on anyways.
Penguin since you attend the OnTarget shoots you'll eventually get to try the SDP then you can decide if the polymer frame is something that bothers you or not. I go to the shoot every month (hooray for being single and have no kids!)Comment
