It isn't actually useless, that was only said because there was talk about 10mm, and the 10mm is a more powerful version of .40 caliber. I don't personally like .40, had one and sold it, but it is far from a useless round.

The .40 S&W isn't useless, far from it. It may be overrated, but useless? No way!

Also, the amount of variation in "useless" round selections here is amazing. 10mm? .357 sig?

That's like saying 9mm and .45 ACP is useless.

                Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Say what you want about the .25, but more people have died from .25 and .22 than any other. The .25 was never designed to kill, it was designed to put a robber on the run and the police could catch him at the hospital.

How many of you will stand up in front of a .25 auto and take the round? I certainly do not want to.

That's a very, very strange story because I have a friend who is in CSI and about 10 years ago he was called to the scene of a triple homicide in Hayward. Three bodies were found in a drainage ditch, each with a single entrance wound (surrounded by powder burns) on the back of the head. They were clipped execution-style right where they lay. Not far away, the cops found a .25 ACP pocket gun with the magazine missing. After the autopsies and ballistics lab report were finished, it was found that all three were murdered with a 25ACP round which was fired from the .25ACP pistol that was found near the murder site.

So, for anything but point-blank shooting, the little 25 is better left at home. But, for "up close and personal" work, it is really hard to beat (if you can get right ontop of someone and use a contact head shot) because the report is so quiet, that in an enclosed space (say, like a car with the windows rolled up) the report can not even be heard by anyone outside who is not paying attention. Even in open spaces (outside) the report is quite often mistaken for something, like a newspaper, being dropped on the pavement.

                      Just my .02 from experience.

                            Another vote for .25ACP.

Back in the late-1990s, boss's teenaged son got shot in the face with a .25ACP from about 20'. Bullet failed to penetrate his cheek bone, just hit the bone and slide under his skin to rest by his ear.

Do they make factory loads for .22wmr for short barrels? If they do, I'd have to tell my Dad in Florida try one of those PMR-30s.
