Actually it gives the same ballistics as .22LR from a rifle.

True but after hearing what happened to one of my friends, I could believe it.

My friend Joe came home and walked into a burglary. The perp was a crazy homeless guy who attacked Joe with a meat cleaver. Joe ran into his study and was able to retrieve his pocket pistol chambered in .25 acp. Shot the nutjob multiple times in the head within 3 feet without effect. Just made him madder. It wasn't until Joe grabbed his baseball bat and whacked him a few times did the perp stop the attack and run away. That little .25 auto now sits in his safe as a paperweight.

The one you can't shoot. Don't bash .25 - a lot of gangsters killed a lot of people with that round. I know of a very recent case where a guy shot his brother with a .22 - the guy died instantly. Shot placement - that's all it's about in the end.

There is this chapter in Cormac McCarthy's The Road where the guy, who has just a few rounds left in his revolver (can't remember if it's a .38 or a .44 mag), finds a bomb shelter stockpiled with food and goods. There is some ammo too, but it's .45ACP rounds. Useless in his gun.

That's "useless" to me. I'd rather have a fully loaded .25 pistol than an unloaded Desert Eagle.

I don't know about that. Seems to be a good round to use in a Ruger Single Six to dispatch Alligators... Yea, I watch Swamp People.

I find that story about the cop getting rounds of .25 down his throat hard to believe. Show us an article. I think that round is worthless because it has no purpose. At least .22 is cheap plinker ammo. None the less I wouldn't want to get **** with anyone of them. I did get shot in my leg with a .32 (sister thought it was unloaded) wasn't bad but I wouldn't do it again. Btw I put her in some classes.

Criminy, unless you come up with sharper rules of engagement, narrowing the field, we could probably come up with a slew of "useless" cartridges. .30 Luger, any of the Mars rounds, any .25 or .32 round (especially if shot out of a cheap revolver). But some of these guys raise a valid point. There are simply too many variables to completely rule out ANY cartridge. A lot of folks are no longer here thanks to the humble .22 and .25 and .32, which many of us would call useless because they don't do what WE want them to do.

.32 ACP.... investigated a suicide once where a guy popped a Silvertip HP in that caliber into his mouth with a classic Colt pocket gun. Cause of death was drowning on his own blood, probably took a half hour or so for him to go. Bullet didn't exit and didn't expand.

.25 ACP is a close second.

                                I own 22, 22WMR, 32, 380, 9mm.... but I can't bring myself to buy a 25acp. Whats the point? Ammo is pricey and weak. I'd rather have a 22lr to be honest.
