I'm hearing RUMORS that when you have an SSE done that you actually have to keep the extended barrel and mag block rather than return them to the smith. Is this true?NRA Life Member

Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Big thanks to "Cyc Wid It" for sharing the knowledge. When I went to the web to find resources on the process, I found this thread most helpful. Just got my HK, and I was so impressed with the CS, I wanted to give some good PR to these professionals:

My HK45 arrived on or before the date estimated by each party. I was informed (emailed) at each step of the process. Costs were in line with my expectations. Out-freaking-standing!
Being new to the SSE process, I thought it would be a nightmare of procedures and costs. Simply put, it was not (well, let's remember we are talking handguns and California here...a certain level of BS is mandatory). I would encourage anyone that is sitting on the fence about purchasing in this manner to not be discouraged.Comment

so when you do a SSE through an FFL you would have to buy another barrel if the length is not a minimum of 6 inches? So for a HK45, I'd have to pay another $500 or so for a new barrel, the FFL installs the mag block plus whatever fees they charge for the service? But for a Desert Eagle .50, for example, since the barrel is 6 inches, the FFL would not need to swap it out? just do the mag block?Comment

Why? They don't throw away the original barrels.WTS all BNIB: Colt S70 Repro, HK45c, Gen4 G19Comment

Call the shop and see if they can do your pistol. Most shops can accommodate, 1911s, glocks, XDms and common stuff but if its something more high end, I'd definitely call em to make sure they have the parts to do it. You shouldn't be buying any parts yourself...so when you do a SSE through an FFL you would have to buy another barrel if the length is not a minimum of 6 inches? No, in fact the user who posted this used one of the best OOS FFL's we have doing SSE conversions for us.so when you do a SSE through an FFL you would have to buy another barrel if the length is not a minimum of 6 inches? So for a HK45, I'd have to pay another $500 or so for a new barrel, the FFL installs the mag block plus whatever fees they charge for the service? Ryan @ Table Rock has what is needed to do HK45's. If you are really interested in getting one give him a call and he will walk you through the whole process.
As for DE50 it would depend on the OAL. Go back to the OP an read it again. It tells you everything that needs to be done to meet the SSE.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Cyc Wid It - would it be possible to update MParms, SSE capacity. I was at his shop the other day and he mention how much more he is able to SSE versus what is mentioned in the first page.

Funny, I just DROS'ed a Glock from him last week and he didn't mention anything. I guess I'll check in with him again when I pick up...WTS all BNIB: Colt S70 Repro, HK45c, Gen4 G19Comment

SSE Sig 516 Pistol?
Is it possible to SSE the SIG 516 AR pistol (w/arm brace)? And how?Last edited by The Traveler; 12-28-2013, 10:37 PM.Comment

Yep...find one and get it delivered to the closest FFL on the SSE list. The brace is an after sale accessory.Comment

Has anybody done a Springfield armory EMP .40? Would I be correct in assuming the barrel and link are the same as other 1911 pattern pistols? For that matter does it matter what caliber barrel is used for the SSE process? Thanks, BobIf you can't explain it simply you don't understand it well enough. Albert EinsteinComment
