Does anyone know a shop that can do a S.S.E. on a Kimber solo?

        Happy New Year!

Can someone not prohibited from owning firearms build a single shot handgun from an 80% receiver? If yes, should he register the gun with CA form FD4542A and pay $19?

        Thanks.

yes. provided that he initially builds it up as a dimensionally-complient roster-exempt single-shot handgun.

there is no requirement that he do so.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Jack, Thank you for your quick response.

Filing a CA form FD4542A is a voluntary act. If an unregistered homebuilt handgun is found by a law enforcement officer, will that be a problem?

After a homebuilt single shot HG is done, can the owner modify it into a multi shot?

depends on the situation. for instance, If you are found illegally carrying it concealed and it isn't registered to you, it is a felony. but if it was registrered to you, then it could be a misdemeanor.

there is nothing in the PC/CCRs that prohibits it, provided you don't create an AW or NFA firearm.

Did anyone file a CA DOJ Firearm ownership record Form # FD 4542A last year? I would like to know your experience. On a home built single shot, what should we put?

Make – Any name we stamped on the receiver?
Model – Make up a name not on the banned list?
                Origin – USA
Barrel length – 6 plus inch
                Acquired from – private party?

                Thanks,

What are the online out-of-state shops that will ship off-roster handguns directly to CA FFL? Also, do these shops have to first convert the guns themselves before shipping, or can they send a brand new gun and the receiving shop in CA does all the work + transfer?

Yes, remember though if your receiving FFL doesn't have a AW permit or High Cap Mag Permit the shipping FFL must break down the magazines of greater then 10 rounds or not ship them. In the case of an AW (ie, AR-15 style pistol) the shipping FFL should remove the Upper from the Lower and ship them separately.
                            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Thanks! Do you know any online shops that will ship unconverted firearms to an FFL here in CA?

It really depends on the type of firearm... a lot of the big stores have quirky rules, your best bet is to ask.
