Firearms on Facebook?

I'm lame. I don't have facebook/myspace/twitter/any of that crap! My friends have my phone number, they can call me. But if I did, I wouldn't post pics of me with my guns.

Pics of the family at the range, hunting trips, zombie hunts. I don't have to worry about my employer, I already got the job. My privacy settings are maxed. I already leave out a lot of personal info as it is, no identifying street names or local places.

I don't post pics of personal firearms but do make sure that I "like" certain facebook pages like Calguns Foundation to show support.

I'm OK posting a picture of me shooting at a range but I don't need a bunch of people, many of which I'm not real close with, knowing how many guns I own and what kind they are. If I had a page with just my closest friends then yeah, I don't mind sharing.

Thanks for reminding me I need to delete them. I was excited when I first bought some, I want to limit it now just to range pics so which ones are mine or not as well as the clear identification is not as easy to the layman.

Thought about it once before, but on a second review of the thought, I decided against it. Guns are a highly politicized topic and I'd rather not put pics of my EBRs up lest I am willing to deal with comments like "What do you need that for?" "is that legal?" "That looks dangerous..." Oh, brother...

I was just curious what the general Calguns consensus is pertaining to posting photos of your firearms on facebook, twitter or any other social networking site. Do you do it? Know of people who do? Advise not to? What's your personal stance on the matter?

I'm mixed on the subject and would like your feedback on the matter .

My wife has an FB account because she organizes her HS Reunions.
When asked by people why I do not have a FB page, I simply explain that I am married, I do not date. No need for FB.

I don't know where anybody else lives but where I live I suspect there are very few homes without firearms. Letting somebody know you you have a firearm in your house is like letting somebody know you have a lawnmower. It's not like criminals are lacking targets. I'm thinking most burglaries and home invasions are done because the criminal has inside information.

Well when criminals know you have the nicest lawnmower, that only makes you a more tempting target right? It's not like people haven't ever been robbed because of information gleaned from FB either.

Either way I don't particularly care about showing off my guns on FB. Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's smart.

I do. Guns are a part of my life and every one of my family/friends knows that. If someone want's to be a jerk about it I can delete their comments or delete them as a contact.

You never know who's watching. Could be a local thief, a current or prospective employer or even good old Uncle Sam. There is only 2 times anyone is going to see my guns. 1. At the range. 2. When i have to defend myself or my family.

I don't post mine for the same reason. All it takes is an empty house and some thieves to break into my house and get a hold of my guns. I have 3 pitbulls at home. They look mean as hell but everyone knows pitbulls are the sweetest dogs in the world.

You logic doesn't make sense... I guess when the government starts requiring me to DROS my lawnmower, I won't post it on my facebook... not that I have it on there.
