Firearms on Facebook?

The general rule is to never put anything on Facebook that you do not want the entire world knowing about you. As a social networking database you have to keep in mind that even if you are using an alias, you are still linked to your friends and ultimately without much work, an outsider can link you to your true identity. You would then have to trust the security of Facebook which has already had problems linked to hackers and this is not counting the fact that law enforcement can access the database both with and without a warrant.

In short if you do not mind people knowing XY or Z about you then feel free to post that information on line but otherwise I would keep it to myself.

I do. My facebook is not public so only my friends can see my photos. I know there are ways to get around that, but that takes work and most people wont bother.

I'm not friends with anybody that would have an issue with me owning a gun.

I thought the same for a while, and try to apply that concept to my friends. I'm sure we all have family that refuses to accept the 2A. As much as I've tired to make them realize, it isn't worth to make Thanksgiving dinner awkward anymore. Can't choose your family!

now adays when you aply for a job they look at facebook, if they don't like what they see no job, why risk it.

You know you can tighten up your privacy settings to where people that are not on your friends list can not see any of your info/pics/friends list/wall posts/etc. I would not friend a prospective employer prior to them hiring me (and maybe not even AFTER they hired me) but that's just me.

I'm not like most CA gun owners...I am proud to own guns and have posted videos and pics. People know my stand on guns.

I dont simply because I dont know who will be looking, and I dont want to spread what I have. Almost all people who know me, know my stance on guns, and ill post up and make pro-gun comments all the time. I look at it as more of a security thing.

To me, it depends. I never broadcast what I own on Facebook. If anything, most people on my FB don't know I own guns. However.. I do have pics of some random unique cowboy shooters that are so finely decorated that anyone can appreciate them as art. They're not my pics, but ones I've found online.. so easily accessible to anyone. Plus, most people don't think twice when they see pictures of percussion revolvers.

I post firearm related news and videos(usually the funny or good stuff), but not actual picks of myself being a "gun toter." I'm sure some of my shooting/carry videos will make it to youtube one of these days. But I don't use FB that much. most of my posts are just me clicking share from another site. Only time i visit is if i have a message.

I am a proud gun owner and those who know me know that I am. I wouldn't post what I own on any of the social medias. Too much personal information gets out. Last thing I want is pics of my inventory in the hands of a person I do not know.
