I'm definitely a supporter. I've had most of the 10mm's through my gunsafe at one time or another. My current list includes: Glock 29, EAA Witness Hunter, Para Ord P1640 converted to 10mm, Colt Delta Elite, IAI Javelina Hunter (actually two), S&W 1006, Sig 220ST converted to 10mm, and a Kimber Target Stainless II.

I typically carry the Glock with 165 gr Gold Dots at 1350 fps. The Paraord and the Witness are used in the field with 180 gr Hornady XTPs at 1350 fps, or with 200 gr hardcast bullets at 1300 fps for bear country. The other 10mm's are all in various states of disassembly and/or testing.

I've never found the ammunition hard to find, but I usually order direct from DoubleTap or I load my own.

Yes, it is, but I'm still testing it. So far, so good -- but I'll let you know after I put a few hundred rounds downrange and maybe take it pig hunting.

May I ask how long it took them to do the conversion?

I sent it to them in March, 2008.

There were quite a few learning issues, and I'm sure that the second batch will move through much more swiftly. I also assume that they will raise the price on the conversion... I'm sure they lost money on the first batch.

But that's not so bad. My Kimber 10mm went up to Burns for work in January of 2006, and it's still not done. You must have patience in the quest for 10mm perfection.

Ooh man...I'm gettin antsy to drop the money on one. Especially because of these awesome pics of them that were up on defensivecarry.com.

                  That Sig 220 grip which I really love + a stout 200-grain = Damn.

Personally 10mm is my all time favorite round which is why I am o vehemently anti-40 LOL. Another amazing cartridge that you can convert a .45 to is the 400 CORBON. AMAZING ballistics, easy on the recoil and ungodly amounts of "force". I am so sold on the velocity = expansion = energy dump= dead badguy that the 10/400CORBON/+p 45loads in 165 and 185gr are my faves. The stats say they rock, and I love to shoot them. Enough recoil to feel like a real man,LOL and easy enough in my XDC-TAC that my 100lb wife likes it better than her .44spc 4inch....

I think the 10mm round is too expensive and too hard to find to justify me purchasing a handgun for that round. In both aspects its worse than even .45ACP right now, which will become an even worse problem for 10mm owners once the restrictions from that new law preventing online handgun ammo purchases takes effect.

Something to think about for sure in my opinion.

How does this damage the gun?
