I like the sights Compensator Is it really needed?

Talking about the DE they now have a compensator for their pistol.
DE in 44 mag is nice, but so is the 10 mm you have

The recoil is controlled by the gases that come out from the compensator
therefore the red dot does not bounce and makes a second shot easy and fast. The compensator helps control the lift from the muzzle. That's why it is very flat shooting .

I sent it to them in March, 2008.

There were quite a few learning issues, and I'm sure that the second batch will move through much more swiftly. I also assume that they will raise the price on the conversion... I'm sure they lost money on the first batch.

But that's not so bad. My Kimber 10mm went up to Burns for work in January of 2006, and it's still not done. You must have patience in the quest for 10mm perfection.

I have different guns (and different calibers) for different reasons. My custom Glock 10mm is about as versatile as it gets: Very powerful, light weight, high capacity, reliability.. It makes an excellent woods protection gun, for situations where you may not be at the top of the food chain. Of course the ammo is more expensive but in this case there actually is literally more bang for your buck. If I'm being charged by a 4-legged predator I'm not going to concern myself that my rounds are 75 cents versus the puny 9mm 25 cents...

I stick to .45acp because its "plentiful" compared to 10mm, has a great punch, penetration is superb, and manstopping is what it is intended for. I like the 10mm in theory, and as a stopping gun, I think its fantastic, but just not feasible for me to shoot regularly. I already have a 9mm and a .45, and a .44mag for the big boys. I just don't think i'd go replacing my .45's for a cartridge that will one day be obsolete except by the holdouts hanging onto it. I think it is a fad that will last another 10-15 years by those who are fanboys for it but thats about it. Again, not knocking it but it never truly replaced anything by any means.

I doubt it's doomed. Companies are still making guns chambered in it, and a resurgence in the 10mm will keep it alive. hell, I never owned one in all the years I have been shooting and I will pick up my Glock 20 today.

THAT'S what all the gunwriters said when the .40 won favor with the FBI. Wasn't that around THIRTY years ago? So, tell me, if the 10 is 'doomed,' why are companies such as Colt re-issuing newer, better versions of their 10MM offerings? Glock is still making 2 models to this very day (the G20 10MM was only the 2nd chambering - making it their 4th design) almost thirty years ago, also!

I have fired one a couple times. I did not think the recoil was especially offensive. Muzzle flash and blast was a bit more than I liked though.

I am not a big fan of 40 caliber. If 9 doesn't cut the mustard, go 45, IMO. but, others may differ.

This is the good ole USA. Individual choice is part of our culture.

I fell in love with the 10MM many years ago. I never did buy one though. I got swept up in the 9mm craze as a young lad.

To this day I've always wanted one, BUT the platforms are limited and as others have pointed out, the ammo is not as plentiful as other calibers.

A number of years ago I converted almost every handgun I own to .40 S&W and I'm a happy camper. I carry the Doubletap Golddots in 165gr.

Ballistics : 165gr. @ 1200fps / 528 ft/lbs- Glock 23 (4.0"bbl)

Now here is the 10MM load from Double tap:

Ballistics : 165gr. @ 1400fps/ 718ft/lbs- Glock 20

At 180 gr. the numbers are even closer together.

I do not feel under gunned and I have a greater availability of platforms and greater capacity.

I'll eventually own a 10MM just because I can.... for now (in CA), but I feel just fine with my .40 S&Ws.

200 fps and 200 ft lbs is nothing to sneeze at. Get to handloading and you can increase that by a bit.
