No conversion kits that I'm aware of. I've done 4 conversions on unramped 1911s from 45 acp to 10mm, on Full Sized and Commander sized guns. Commander conversions are slightly easier if one wants the ability to go back and forth between the two calibers.

If I can hit a basketball from 10 yards once in a while, I'll be happy

I was going to the range once a week before covid. I need to get back in the saddle again. I was improving too.

I've got a G20SF, in large part becasue as others have noted there aren't a lot of choices for 10mm in CA. It is my only Glock. Plastic striker fired guns are just not my thing, but I have to admit it runs perfectly and having 15 rounds of 10 mm available is an impressive feat.

I'd love to get one of the S&W 3rd gen 10mm's. All stainless steel, double action, they're my style. Maybe one day I can find one. If I lived anywhere else, I'd be checking out the Sig p220 in 10mm, that might be even better.

If I think about this a bit longer, it might be enough to prompt me to move to a free state!

My disdain for the Glock is driven primarily by the inordinate number of mishaps involving the weapon, and the conduct of too many Glock owners. I see a lot of them holding the weapon horizontally when firing, and uttering "Booyah" as they shoot. That really annoys me. I rarely see that with H&K shooters. Ya, I know that it may be kinda prejudicial, but I also do the same with Texans.

I won't even get into the issue of trying to reload brass that has been mangled by a Glock.
LOL, no doubt. Funniest thing I've seen at my cousins range was a guy was standing with a gansta lean, holding his pants up with his left hand shoot a glock with the sights canted inboard, did a mag dump, look at his target with glee saying look, look I got one....

Fitting a 10mm complete slide to a 45 frame may not be as simple as putting together an AR15, but it is also not difficult. Complete 10mm slide already has the barrel fitted to the slide, which is generally the hard part. What is left is to make sure the slide will ride on the frame smoothly. Unless your frame is really out of spec, then maybe fitting the barrel lug. 90% of the time, the slide, barrel will fit without further adjustment.

The 45 ejector needs to be replaced. Also not hard to do. Knock out a pin and remove the old ejector. Put in the new 10mm ejector, drill the notch if it did not come with one and put the pin back in. Look up a youtube video.

Look at your frame's slide release hole/slot, is it horse shaped or slot cut (no rail above it)? The cracked frame issue is right above the slide release if the opening is horse shaped. The thin rail section may crack under heavy recoil over a period of time (even with hot 45 loads). It was the cracking issue with Colt Delta Elite. It actually has zero impact to the function and durability of the gun cracking at this location, but cracks scares people. So Colt fixed it by milling off the top portion of the hole and turn it into a slot instead. Problem solved. Now there is no metal there to crack. I don't worry about it.

There are other stories of crack frame around the slide release pin hole. That is caused by improper fitting of the barrel lug to the frame. It will eventually crack no matter what you shoot.

Spring weight needs to be changed to slow down the slide speed. Combination of recoil and main spring generally do the trick. I personally also use a square firing pin stop so I can reduce the recoil spring weight to reduce the slide return speed.

A properly fitted 1911 barrel will have as much if not more chamber support than a Glock ramped barrel. That's topic all of its own.

I have a question if I may? So if I have a sf21 all I need is a converion barrel for 10mm? What about a magazine? Will 45 acp mags work with 10mm? Sorry if its off topic.

                  I've got two, a 5" Smith 610:

                  And a Dan Wesson:

I bought the 610 new, years and years ago. Walked into the LGS and there she was. I thought she was one of the new L frames and asked to see it as I hadn't handled one before. Bought er. I've carried that gun many a many mile horseback in big bear country. The 10mm is great for dispatching large critters and also for really reaching across a canyon at a coyote. It is simply one of the most accurate revolvers I have ever shot and thats out of a pool of several hundreds. It is particularly fond of .40s for plinking or paper which I use to have a big stash of but not so much anymore.

The Dan Wesson was a gift from my son, an OR resident. He'd bought it for himself as a saddle gun but it was just too heavy for constant wear. So he gave it to me. It is heavy, for sure, but I just hauled it around fixing fence on our place for four days cause we had to go to the way back up and there are lions and tigers and bears, oh my, back there. It is sweet and Apples can testify that it has a really SWEET trigger.

I looked at a Glock 20SF and it was just too blocky and 2x4 ish for my hands and I have big ol meat hooks.

I have used the 10 mm to put down numerous snakes, horses and cattle. Nothing in my experience and that goes from .22lr to .45-70 Buffalo Bore rounds and dang near everything in between, hammers them into the ground like a 10mm. A snake simple doesn't even twitch again. Good stuff.

10mm to 45ACP likely will not work as the breach face dimension is too small. One can only go bigger to smaller with conversion barrels.

For Glocks, there are 45 to 10mm conversion barrels. It has to be a "conversion" barrel or the barrel tang will not lock up in the breach face.

In a pinch you can use 45 mags for 10mm, but do not expect 100% reliability.

Hey fellas, I drosed the Glock 20 today. I don't plan on shooting 40 cal but I want to be able to shoot light loads and heavy loads. Is the factory spring good enough or should I upgrade?

Can you post up a link or two of your favorite spring..

                      Thank you

10 days sucks, but 30 days is worse, when you see something you really want right after an impulse buy.

Enjoy the G20. I was just admiring mine about 20 minutes ago. My only Glock in a sea of steel framed SA and DA/SA pistols and revolvers.
I am not disappointed in the purchase.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

I have a few 1911s. I don't think that I have ever held a gun that fits the hand so well as a 1911 does. I have a new SA Mil-Spec that I bought right before SA shut down the custom shop, this one doesn't have the ILS either. I put 7 rounds through it to check function and back in the case it went. I had plans for that one.

It sounds like you have a very nice collection of handguns

I love the 1911 for the range, but not for duty carry for the same reasons. Too many unintended discharges. Folks that claim "Glock Leg" is preventable through proper weapon handling are absolutely correct. But I'll just observe that there isn't enough of that going around and that's why "Glock Leg" is too commonly encountered. Got to deal with things as they they are, not the way we would like them to be.
And your hammer isn't under tension? A glocks striker is under some tension, and pulling the trigger cocks the striker further and releases it, correct? Oh and glock 20 or 29. Hands down.
