I think you might be onto something. Most of the commerical mainstream ammo from the likes of PMC, Seller Bellot, Federal etc all seems pretty soft shooting compared to the more "boutique" manufacturers I've tried like Underwood or Buffalo Bore. I don't think the latter has unmanageable recoil, but all of their loadings seem more comparable to the stories of "stout" recoil and "weak wrists" and the like. Velocity for most commercial 10mm also seems much lower than what the round is capable of.

or go to Sportsman's Warehouse and get it at regular price of $599, or wait for sale and get it even cheaper. Sometimes, SW has it in store, when it is out on line.
And, if you served, get additional 5% discount.Comment

I think that's right . . . I took a quick look at a few loads, and some are not all that different from .40, e.g. the 180 gr Federal Hydra Shok is 1030 fps at the muzzle vs. 1000 fps for the 180 gr .40 version.I think you might be onto something. Buffalo Bore's 180 gr though is much faster @ 1350 fps, and the Underwood 200 gr at 1250 fps is not far off Buffalo Bore in terms of energy.Comment

I frequently carry a G29 in the hills and mtns around here (especially in the cooler months). It's an awesome shooter. Pearce magazine base pads make all the difference for me.Originally posted by ACfixerthere's plenty of sissies and snitches roaming the hallways here.Comment

Most Commercial 10mm is loaded to 40 S&W levels.. Its when you het into the Buffalo Bore ,I think you might be onto something. Underwood ( my goto ) and a few others where you see the difference.
When I used to shoot off the shelf 10mm and 40 S&W out of my Glock 20 or 29 it's negligible difference.
As far as recoil difference on the Glock 20 / 29 recoil springs and grips help immensely. I carry my Glock 29 with Glock 20 with 15 round mags.Last edited by dozer wright; 01-17-2022, 7:43 AM.Comment

Not really, you just haven't bought into the hype and marketing surrounding the dozens and dozens of tactijonny sights. For games those sights might give someone an advantage. From a practical standpoint they do very little. Pretty sure you shoot better than a majority of the people shooting with fancy lighted or glow in the dark sights. Its the other way around, its the ones who pour money into glow in the dark sights that should shoot more - in the dark because its pretty safe to say almost none have ever done so - no lights, pitch black.
--------------------------
As for the grizzly bear - if you are in bear country who would even think to trust their life to a handgun where a second and third shot is more likely than a one shot stop? That is why they make rifles.
The comparison between any other handgun cartridge and a 10mm for that situation is like comparing an airsoft to a bb gun and shooting at a wild pig. If you can carry a pistol then you can sling a rifle and if not then maybe, just maybe you shouldn't be where bears and other large animals call home and call you food.Let Go of the Status Quo!
Don't worry, it will never pass...How in the hell did that pass?
Think past your gun, it's the last resort, the first is your brain.
Defense is a losing proposition when time is on the side of the opponent. In the history of humanity, no defense has ever won against an enemy with time on their side.Comment

On the handgun vs rifle discussion, I agree to a point. sometimes a rifle isn't practical. My friend lives in Alaska, and he carries his G20 on a chest rig when he rides his motorcycle. He knows it isn't the best, but it's difficult to sling a 375 while riding.
And he does his deer hunting with a 375.Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.
