    Thanks guys...

I own a G26 and have zero problems with it. I have seen a few G20s and 20SF in stock around town and a few online (Ca legal).

In CA, other option for 1911 10mm version would be to buy a roster 1911 and then buy a 6" complete 10mm slide from company like Fusion. Fusion can fit the slide to frame if you send them the frame.
    I own 3x 1911 in 45acp. Are there conversion kits for 45acp to 10mm?

I do love my Ruger LCR in 9mm... but have many 9mm autos like everyone else. I don't think I'd want my only 10mm to be a revolver. The beauty of a 10mm to me is that it is like a revolver cartridge in power or ALMOST (.357 Mag) but it is designed to work in a double stack auto. Just my thoughts on a 10mm auto.

I mean realistically. For $1200 If You bought
        A used Glock 20 $600
A new Slide with Rmr cut $220
        A used Trijicon Rmr $300
        suppressor sights $100
And maybe some mags and maybe a Guiderod and recoil spring.
        For $1200.

Not a conversion "kit" per-se, but company do sell completed 10mm slide so you can custom fit them to your 1911 frame. Yes, fitting is likely required, like with any other parts change on a 1911. Only other change is potentially the ejector on the frame will need to be replaced for a 40/10 version. Would also buy 10mm magazine to compliment. However, in a pinch 45 mags will work, not 100% reliable tho. I built a few 10mm long slides this way. Ask them to provide a square firing pin stop instead a rounded one for 10mm build.

Modern day factory 10mm is like 40SW+P. Really down loaded. If interested in shooting full power 10mm, then main and recoil spring may need to go heavier.

No, not possible. You can (often times) shoot .40 out of a 10 with a barrel swap. I do with my RIA 1911 10mm.

It's possible, but not easy to do such a conversion, but no one that I know of offers a prepared kit.

At a minimum, you would need a new slide assembly. The breechface dimensions are different, and the frame would need to be fitted with a new ejector. You would also need new magazines.

But the real challenge is going to be the risk of frame cracks. The 1911 frame simply was not designed to handle the stresses of the 10mm load. Colt's early attempts to build 10mm 1911's resulted in a lot of frame cracks. They ultimately had to engineer a special recoil system to handle the loads. My first impression is that if you try to duplicate what Colt did by simply fitting 10mm parts to the 1911, you'll wind up with the same frame cracks.

I didn't want to risk damage to my Colt Delta, I converted it to .40 S&W. That conversion is easily done with a barrel, magazine, and recoil spring swap.

                      .

If you have a 1911 with a forged frame it should be a good candidate for 10mm, 45 Super, or 460 Rowland. If you have one in 45 ACP it may not have a fully supported chamber, I highly advice using one.

If I have to do it over again I would build a 45 Super. Per load data the 10mm beats 45 Super in ft/lbs, but with proper hand loading keeping the round at the longest overall length that will function through your gun it can surpass 10mm power with bigger and heavier bullets. Kind of like loading to 460 Rowland length, but using 45 Super brass. You can still shoot 45 ACP also.

I would use a 2011 frame, 6” slide milled for slide mounted optic, 6.5” bull barrel, short 3 port comp.

I love the 1911 for the range, but not for duty carry for the same reasons. Too many unintended discharges. Folks that claim "Glock Leg" is preventable through proper weapon handling are absolutely correct. But I'll just observe that there isn't enough of that going around and that's why "Glock Leg" is too commonly encountered. Got to deal with things as they they are, not the way we would like them to be.
Rick, the glock striker is not under "cocked" spring pressure until you start pulling the trigger, it's one of Glocks safeties. The only way that a Glock will hold the striker in the cocked position is if you installed an "Timney Alpha Trigger". This trigger actually defeats on of Glocks safeties in order to get a "1911" type break.

In reality Glock figured out how to use the trigger to accomplish cocking and firing their weapon weapon vs HK having to rely on you using 3 fingers squeeze tje front of the grip to cock it and a trigger and pointer finger to fire it. It apparently HK is a bit behind on the times..... Just kidding I love my P7 PSP, but it always gets huge rise out of HK fans when I say that.

Thanks for the update. I should make clear that I've never owned a Glock, or even fired a Glock. But for that matter, there's a bunch of other weapons that I've never owned or fired, just not enough time left.

My disdain for the Glock is driven primarily by the inordinate number of mishaps involving the weapon, and the conduct of too many Glock owners. I see a lot of them holding the weapon horizontally when firing, and uttering "Booyah" as they shoot. That really annoys me. I rarely see that with H&K shooters. Ya, I know that it may be kinda prejudicial, but I also do the same with Texans.

I won't even get into the issue of trying to reload brass that has been mangled by a Glock.

The power of a 16 or 18 round .357 Mag would be cool as hell... and that is what a Glock 20 is.

I can sympathies with hating Glocks, every time I handled one, grip felt like grabbing 2x4. I much prefer S&W M&P series, same idea, but better execution.
But, I must admit that couple months ago I finally broke down and surrendered to the peer pressure and bought Glock 19. Shoots surprisingly well, but I definitely will need to get my Dremel out and round of trigger guard and slim down grip. Gen 5 would have been better in that area.
