Sig vs Glock

To me Glock vs. SIG is like Toyota vs. BMW. Both are solid reliable cars, just one is more refined and luxury oriented. One is engineered to run forever.


There are a several well documented Glock 9mm with over 1 million rds through them.

I'm biased...out of my dozens of handguns, none are Polymer and the only striker fired is a S&W model 41....So yes, buy a Sig. They are outstanding guns.

crufflers, I like you, and I legit don't mean this next comment in a personal or directed way, honestly just piggybacking off your comment. Yeah, the hate is entertaining, but the Glock fanboys taking any slightly negative comment about Glocks so personally, as if their own child got punched in the face, is pure entertainment as well.
I don't have a preferred side in the fight, I just see that Glock people most often are the ones getting riled up with religious fervor and I agree with you, pure entertainment.

And yeah I agree with Dooder, I doubt OP will ever shoot his Glock to breaking due to durability concerns and if he does, it'll be so many decades down the line that he'll have saved enough up to get many more Glocks, or the 2A will be dead and nobody will have guns anymore anyways.

No offense taken. Rabid Glock fans are why I took so long to give the gun a fair shot.

Two hammer fired guns that I trust are a CZ 75D Compact PCR and a H&K USP Expert. CZ's really are great, even when they are stock.

I'd take a CZ 75 with no weird CA LCI or mag safety over a CA mutilated P226.

You mean like when MAC ran the indestructible Sig 226s (MK-25 and Legion) through his obstacle course aka"the gauntlet" and neither gun came close to making it. One locked up so badly, he had to hammer the slide off.

Isn't that what Sigs are made for? Plain jane G17 did fine BTW. Must be something I'm overlooking.

I would pick one and practice like crazy if you are serious about self defense. The trigger, DA/SA, bore axis are very different. You sound like a new shooter. Become an expert with one first.

Like several others in this thread, I have both, shoot both well, and enjoy the easy breakdown of both. Both make me happy (not true of all of my guns).

There are a couple of differentiators:
* The Sig feels far better in hand and looks 10x sexier. Superficial? Yup. Damn I like holding the Sig! It was also my first handgun so that could play a role.
* The Glock is less expensive (a Gen4, so not that much less expensive) and I can shoot it longer between cleanings.

Accuracy? Both are way better than I am.

Reliability? Neither have been an issue.

Long term durability? They'll both last a long time.

Standard Calguns summary: buy both.

I like both. SIG grip and balance are superior. Glock simplified action under stress to me is superior. What ever you train with is fine. I think the Glock is more forgiving with less training. The SIG for me is super smooth yet takes much longer to master the muscle memory and fades much faster. The double to single action takes a little time to adjust in drills while I don't even think or lose a step with the Glock reset trigger and can rapid control fire with no surprise and not worry about timing as much. Mag reloads seem easier with Glock. I find my SIG more accurate, yet in combat shooting, as long as your group in in the area of the target, a bullseye doesn't matter much. In my opinion, I think you need more range time with a SIG, yet when you master the SIG it has a grove that is much more methodical than the Glock but takes more time to develop and really understand the pros of that gun. I really like my SIG but carry glock since I may not be at a range for six months or longer sometimes. My experience is with the P226 and G17 full size for contrast. For CCW, glock all day long with G30s and G26.

Should I sell my Glock 19 and buy a Sig all metal. Will a Sig be as durable as Glock or more.
Can a Sig out live a Glock ? I find that a Sig 226 9mm is far more than accurate over Glock. What's your experience?

Or keep your glock and buy a sig sp2022.

if you need to sell the glock to afford the sig, you’re probably better off just keeping the glock.

Both guns are accurate, reliable and durable. I’m a big advocate of variety, so keep the glock and buy the sig when your financial situation permits.
