Finally got my CA7 out of jail. Took 11 days. I'd like to thank everyone in this thread for providing such great and helpful information.

So any chance we’ll be able to buy a CA11 or CA12 upper stand alone? Maybe a CA14 in .458 SOCOM or .450 Bushmaster?

Our barrel inventory is one of the gating factors for delivery of CA7, 11, and 12s, but I have seen CA series uppers for sale second hand from time to time.

          9mm upper

I just received my 9mm upper from CMMG this past week and finally took it out to the range. Wow! Super fun to shoot and a very soft shooter!...quite tame in fact.

I was kind of admiring the Ruger pc carbine from afar the past couple of years, but never pulled the trigger bc I wasn't too excited about it...nothing personal, but there were other firearms that I was more stoked about. Anyhows, covid cower in place is really costing me.

Its really nice to just pop the 9mm upper on and use my existing lower and trigger set up. I shot a couple of hundred rounds and had zero hiccups. Like I said above, I was impressed how smooth it shot and in a small compact package. Plain vanilla shooting with no drama. I only shot indoors, but am looking forward to taking it outdoors once things open up. I have no other iron sights handy, but I did have an unused acog that I threw on it. It was perfect! Funny, on one of the other uppers I use on the CA7, I threw on a trijicon SRO as an afterthought...and it was sweet. Its so nice running lightweight, simple optics (my other AR has a 1-6x LVPO on it, and it feels like a boat in comparison).

One thing that bugged me was the 30 round Magpul magazines neutered to 10 rounds. 10 rounds goes way too fast in such a fun gun. Kudos to CMMG and Mean arms for putting together such a cool package. For me, this set up is great because it gives me the option to shoot a 9mm lightweight gun with a good trigger, and with many options for sights/optics.

Has anyone tried one of the Foxtrot 9mm uppers with a CMMG mag or endo mag and a Kingpin/maglock, or equiv?
Or the Delta Defense or KGs?

              Thread crap much?

I love CMMG too. They are a great company, but last I checked, their products are not on the roster.

I didn't say anything after the first post, but it was time to say something after the second. We are not afraid of criticism or competition, but at some point we will say something.

To answer your question, we are aware of many people swapping uppers on their CA7s. We are not aware of anyone getting pinched by LE for doing so.

                      Thank you lead launcher!
I’m sorry for the essay, but I’ve been getting a lot of different information and was a little frustrated at asking a question to what I think of as the authority thread, so to speak, for these models, giving me the blow off. I counted to ten, Im fine now.

                      No,
It’s not something I’m going to use on ‘patrol‘ every day or something. I just want to be able to shoot it occasionally at the range and put hollow points in it and keep it locked by the bed for defense.

I have a broken right thumb, I can’t hold fingrips/featureless too well or, handguns. Pistol grips get sore after a bit too but it’s easier than an integrated one. I specifically wanted the CAs as something ‘on the list’ so there’s no confusion with an under informed law officer, and small/short that I can hold with two hands and be able to swap between 5.56/.223 (maybe a.45) and a 9mm config. without having to have a bunch of registered lowers.

I really can’t afford a CMMG upper, so I was looking at solutions at about half the cost.

Does a SigBrace legally work with this thing?

Jebus, try decaf. Or some midol.
Too many rifles, not enough time...

FYI there are few CA7s that just came in stock at peppers. I just ordered one...

Franklin Armory® CA7™ is Approved on California Handgun Roster. The gun operates like a bolt-action (using charging handle as the "bolt") and does not require any type of maglock or bullet button.
