Did the firing pin block spring get cocked and install incorrectly when reassembling it?

I didn't remove the spring from the pin...How could it be installed incorrectly considering that there is only one way in? From what I have seen, it functions correctly other than disassembling the slide.

I tested it with a pencil in the barrel.

I should have asked this from the start but given the symptom mentioned, what would be the side effect firing it with a live round?

Sometimes when re-installing the firing block into the slide the spring that goes under it turns sideways. I think that is what I saw some people report. Then the spring gets deformed and prevents the firing pin block from moving up and down as intended.

Also, is it supposed to be smooth when installing the firing pin assembly to the slide?

After reading the posts above, I tried removing slide in a vertical position, barrel facing down.. It moved the firing pin forward as designed.

Now do you guys think that this is due to over polishing or spring binding inside the firing block?

If it's the spring, have any tips of avoiding the spring going in sideways as Mosin as suggested?

I don't have time to troubleshoot tonight, unfortunately.

No. There is a sleeve in there. The sleeve will rub on the spring a bit. But that is what it is there for.

I think OP just overpolished either the plunger and/or the nub on the trigger bar that connects to the plunger. TBQH I wouldn't bother polishing the new OEM parts. Just shoot the thing, it will wear to where you like it eventually. Before I got into guns I shot a few rental Glocks, and all of the trigger felt great. When I bought my first Glock a 19 Gen 4, I was like wtf this trigger sucks what the heck is wrong with it. But it eventually wore in.

Take it apart and put it back together. Sounds like the plunger spring is cockeyed.

Regarding overpolishing... At first that is what I thought as well.

I actually have completely rounded off the firing pin block on mine, and like I stated, I can cause the firing pin block to enter the safe position by pulling the slide too far back, but then I can still reassemble the pistol without having to push the block into the fire position manually.

I would still like to see if OP is simply being too sensitive and gentle.

No. There is a sleeve in there. The sleeve will rub on the spring a bit. But that is what it is there for.

Gentle in way when installing the slide? No, it literally hits the wall if I don't manually engage the safety plunger prior to.

But when I remove the slide in a vertical position, barrel facing down, it works as designed.
