Get the XD9 service. You already have the XD45. Same platform, less confusion.

The XD mag pouch and holster are dumpster-worthy.

The XD is more of a noob pistol, they're generally just not very popular with people who shoot at a higher level.

Glocks are easier to work on, more aftermarket support, more widely used around the world, easier to replace sights, used by many more high-level competitive shooters and SOF units.

The XD is really a Hrvatski Samokres 2000, but Springfield needed something to compete against the Glock. So instead of spending all the time and money to design something, like every other manufacturer, they get marketing rights to an Eastern European gun already made, call it "eXtreme Duty" (what word was more '00s than "extreme!") and sell it for about 50% more.

The magazines Springfield gives are OEM. Zero problems.

XD noob guns? LOL! You talk as if every Glock owners are dead eye expert marksmen. Hahahaha. I've seen a good amount of Glock owners in the range look inside of their barrels when they experience a failure.

Glocks are good guns. What I can't stand are some of their fanboys. They act like they're Dirty Harry and that they can shoot a fly from 3 blocks away.

here's what i would do...get the XD now, to take advantage of the free gear offer. join GSSF with a 2 year membership for $60, and buy the glock next month for $410 with an extra magazine.

FWIW, I would probably go XD due to the standard rifling and the ability to shoot Cast Lead without worry.

Now, with that said, I do own an HK USP (recent acquisition), which of course is Polygonal Rifling, but It's not a big deal for me.

I'm going to vote XD, basically on ergonomics, rifling and price (and the extras).

What do you mean by standard rifling? Glocks are different?

I've also read where some Glock guys ruined their barrels by using the wrong ammo. Is that what you're talking about with cast lead?

If the grip safety doesn't bother you, I'd get the XD. It bothers me, so I have the Glock.

Yeah totally a matter of opinion. I like the simple utilitarian style of a stock Glock slide. The XD's can look gaudy with the double-decker slide, too many things going on to try to make it look cool. I do have one (XD9 service). The compact XD's start to look ridiculous to my eyes with that slide, but the frame fits right in too Croatian-style-wise IMHO. Shooting it is what matters though, and I like the Glock trigger and reset.
