I got to shoot a couple of XD 9mm pistols owned by a friend. It just happens that I was shooting my 1911s in 9mm and 40 at the time. I was offered to shoot the XDs and there was no hitch transitioning to the XD. I mentioned this because it takes me a few rounds to get the grip angle feel with my Glocks after shooting my 1911s. Not sure if the store bought ammo was a bit anemic as the gun didn't feel snappy at all. My accuracy and the timing of the gun felt really good. If I didn't own any Glocks and I was looking into getting a polymer pistol I probably would've bought the XD.The wise man said just find your place

Practice improves accuracy, equipment is second. Can't tell you how many times I see someone bragging about all the money and after market parts they have in a gun and it was fitted by "so and so" or this or that custom shop and they still can't group for crap.Comment

SIG P320....
Nah.. "Ditch that nickel-plated sissy pistol and get yourself a Glock!"
i'd go for the G17 out of the 2 choices offered."Mr. Rat, I have a writ here that says you are to stop eating Chen Lee's cornmeal forthwith. Now, It's a rat writ, writ for a rat, and this is lawful service of same!"Comment

I vote glock 19. Feels better than 17. If u don't like it, easy to resell and get ur money backComment

This thread needs a poll. I prefer the glock although for some reason I shoot the XD very well. I like the glock for it's ease being able to service my own weapon in detail in addition to the aftermarket support. I can't say the same for some of my other guns.

Glock 17 - you will not be disappointedPlease one choose one or the other. Don't suggest another one it'll only confuse me some more. I'm trying to see which is the better buy for $550 out the door.
Springfield Armory XD Essential 9mm 5" barrel.
Comes with 2 10 round magazines.
+4 extra magazines, pouch and magazine holder.
$479.98
Glock 17 9mm 4.5" barrel.
Comes with 2 10 round magazines.
$519.98
I currently have a SW MPS 9mm 3.1" barrel. I would like a 9mm with a longer barrel so I can actually hit targets and group them better with some distance
I have a .45 XD and I love it. I've rented Glocks and love them too. If money wasn't a factor, I wouldn't be able to choose since both guns are fantastic. However the XD being $40 cheaper and with the bonus makes it quite a difficult deal to pass.
What do you guys think, should I join the Glock family? Is it worth the extra $40 and -4 magazines and the other bonus?Comment

Go with the better deal on the XD.
You can get the Glock at Christmas. Look for holiday discounts and specials.A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it.Comment
