    Choice between the 2.

Please one choose one or the other. Don't suggest another one it'll only confuse me some more. I'm trying to see which is the better buy for $550 out the door.

Springfield Armory XD Essential 9mm 5" barrel.
Comes with 2 10 round magazines.
+4 extra magazines, pouch and magazine holder.
    $479.98

    Glock 17 9mm 4.5" barrel.
Comes with 2 10 round magazines.
    $519.98

I currently have a SW MPS 9mm 3.1" barrel. I would like a 9mm with a longer barrel so I can actually hit targets and group them better with some distance

I have a .45 XD and I love it. I've rented Glocks and love them too. If money wasn't a factor, I wouldn't be able to choose since both guns are fantastic. However the XD being $40 cheaper and with the bonus makes it quite a difficult deal to pass.

What do you guys think, should I join the Glock family? Is it worth the extra $40 and -4 magazines and the other bonus?

Only you can figure it out.

If it was my choice I'd get the XD.

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

You have an XD. I would go for the glock. Have you considered the glock 34?

I'd get the G17. Get what you like.

For me it's a glock. Simpler to detail strip. More dependable IMO and the grip safety on the XD irritates me personally. If you're buying strictly for a target pistol, I could see the XD being a better choice. Otherwise get the glock for everything else including target shooting.

Get the XD. Better ergos and more stuff. Glocks are over priced for what they are. Why does a Glock cost more then an XD or M&P when it has less anyway?
The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.

If $100 is "way over" your budget, maybe you should just become more proficient with the guns you already own and spend money on ammo.

They only can tell you how reliable the pistol is. If you liked both so why don't you buy both . Buy the SA first, to get the promotion and then buy the G-17 later (you can find the G-17/19 at $519 all the time).

I personally have an xd and a glock 35 chambered in 9mm. Before I bought my glock or xd I was planning on getting a glock 17. I compared the glock to the xd and couldnt find any reason that the almost $100 more glock did better then the xd. I love the xd way more then the glock in just about every aspect. the trigger is better, the sights are better, the feel in your hand is better, stock ambidextrous mag release, and there is plenty of aftermarket support for them(just not as much as a glock). I do like my glock for the simplicity, many aftermarket options, and easy of taking it apart. My xd isnt hard to to take apart but the glock is slightly easier. Being the xd is cheapier and you get more for it id still take an xd over a glock anyday. Ive got probably well over 800rds in my xd and havent had a single issue. I know it isnt made in america but really I couldnt care less as long as it goes bang everytime.

                            Glock 17 in my opinion.
