    I think we could create an entire forum for 9 vs 45 . . . .

At least that way, all these threads would be in one easy to locate place.

you said you don't shoot enough for ammo conservation but you do have a good group at 7-10 yards with either gun.

I believe it all depends on what route you are going with your handgun. Planning on competing ? simply target shooting time to time? and I am assuming all underlying home defense.

9 / 40 / 45 or whichever caliber it all depends on what you shoot well with. Shooting well at 7-10 yards at your own pace is different when you are in competition mode / low light home defense setting / obviously anything under stress.

You're right since we are in California the capacity argument is out. So it all boils down to what you are most accurate with under different settings in my opinion.

      Good luck man

Ok but you need to have a subforum for 6.5cm vs 308.

The .45 bullet in a magazine is like watching an old porn movie starring John Holmes vs. the 9mm is like walking in on PeeWee Herman pleasuring himself watching a John Holmes movie in a darkened porn house. Both do the same thing, but you know you'd rather have the larger size for bragging rights.

Semi-auto ammo has come a long way since FMJ days

I never wanted a 9mm because of reliablity issues with self defense rounds. That has changed as there is a pretty wide array of quality ammo out there.

You keep your bullets on target and the 9mm is all you need.

Forgive the sarcasm OP. Your subject is a very old argument to so many of us that was never definitively answered. The 40 S&W because it falls between the 9 and 45 was thought to be the answer. It still is not.

No popular carried caliber is an overwhelming fight stopper as many studies have shown. Shoot whatever caliber you can shoot comfortably accurately and you will be as well served as can be expected.

A 45 may expand but a 50 will never shrink.

I dedicated almost an entire chapter of my book on this very topic. It's pretty good discussion material. I'm going to get some hate mail I'm sure, lol.

10MM has more speed at 100 yards than a .45ACP has at the muzzle.

Shoot .40, 357 SIG, 9X25 and swap the upper and run .45ACP

Who needs 9mm and .45? 10mm for social work, shoot .40 through it if you want some inexpensive somewhat realistic practice. If you want cheap and no recoil for fun, can't beat .22lr.

9mm is a great round and without, we wouldn't have any cute girls at the range.

Be sure to ask your doctor if depression, rectal bleeding, and suicide are right for you.

This ones better. And this YouTube channel has some of the best content related to firearms for self defense.

You thought I was serious? I mentioned fake stats based on ONE case of more people committing suicide with a .22 during a certain year. Heck, even IF what I said was true, it wouldn't matter, because people who die from .22's usually die later, which is too late during a self-defense scenario.
