I find it difficult to believe that the accuracy difference is due to the bullet type at that range. More likely that the 45 pistol fits your hand better.

          10mm. It's as powerful as a .357.

I will settle this once and for all.

The .22 kills more people in America than any other caliber. So therefore, .22 > 9mm & 45 ACP.

Go 40 S&W it's the best of both worlds! Or is it the worst of both worlds?

The .45 ACP as a "manstoppper" came out of a time when most people didn't know diddly about guns, ballistics, or studies about real life shootings. When terms like "manstopper" could be thrown around and everyone was impressed because they actually thought it was true. Lucky for us the information is out there for those who are willing to look.

If you want to shock and awe the kiddies or your girlfriend at the range bring out something at least .357 Mag/10mm and above. And really??? People are that convinced the .45 is that powerful and that much harder to shoot than 9mm? It's hard to believe.

Aside from who else might be shooting it and ammo cost, it's mostly a personal preference. I got 45's in a 1911 and P220 when I was single cause they were what I wanted. A wife and daughter later, the 1911's a plinking toy, P220's gone, and we have several 9mm poly pistols. Simple and easy to operate became the primary decision factors.

And before anyone believes the above picture, it is in jest over exaggerating the .45's effectiveness. I shot a .45 1911 for the first time last week and honestly didn't notice much more recoil. Me personally, I shoot 9mm because they're still very effective and since I don't reload I can buy a ton more ammo and practice more..... shot placement is key.

They are both equally ineffective. Grab your rifle or shotgun.

9 for plinking, 45 for killing

10mm or 9x25 Dillon; everything else is basically a BB gun.

What YOU shoot best with is the one you should concentrate on between the two.
9mm is usually easier for followup shots. Given the same platform.
With a 45, you don't need a follow up shot.

                                Besides, a 45 will stop a tank...
